The City of Apache Junction is seeking qualified artists to research the surrounding landscape and setting to provide art concepts that will be translated into a vinyl media. Projects will enhance civic building windows, civic building façades and traffic signal cabinets on major street corners. The City anticipates selecting up to eight (8) artists. Artists must be age 18 or over; reside in Maricopa, Pinal or Pima county; and be legally qualified to work in the United States. Anyone residing outside of these three counties will not be considered. Budgets range from $1,200 to $2,000 depending on which project is assigned to the artist. By applying to this SOQ you are automatically considered for all projects. Do not send in proposals. Artists will review each site to learn about the city's cultures, history and landscape. Submittals should demonstrate artistic merit in conceptual approach, originality, and the ability to work in a digital medium.

Application Requirements

Submittals will include a letter of interest, resume or CV, up to eight (8) images of past projects with an accompanying image description list, names of three art professional or art discipline references. Image description list must reference each specific image with project title, year completed, budget, medium and location, if sited in a public space.

Eligibility Criteria

Open to experienced artists age 18 years and older who reside in either Maricopa, Pima or Pinal County, Arizona. Artists outside of those Arizona counties will not be considered. Artists will be experienced with creating artwork using a digital program that is ready to submit to a vinyl fabricator. Paintings or other physical media will not be accepted.
