The Alliance for the Arts invites talented artists to submit their proposals for an exciting opportunity to design and create a mural that encapsulates our rich 50-year history as the premier "pathway to the arts in Southwest Florida." This is also an opportunity to express your hopes for the future of the Alliance and the impact we have on our community. This is a unique chance to leave a lasting legacy on two 40 x 9-foot shipping containers, transforming it into a vibrant celebration of our community's artistic journey.
Project Overview:
Theme: The mural should reflect the Alliance for the Arts' significant contributions to nurturing, promoting, and advancing the arts in Southwest Florida over the past five decades. We are looking for creative interpretations that highlight our role in the community, our impact on artists of all ages, and our dedication to making the arts accessible to everyone. Information about Alliance for the Art's current programming can be found on our website, artinlee.org. Historical information about the organization and its founding can be sent to artists on request, email exhibitions@artinlee.org to request this packet.
Size: The mural will cover two 40 x 9-foot shipping containers, providing a large canvas for your artistic expression.
Location: The shipping container is situated in a prominent location accessible to the public, offering high visibility (up to 140k visitors per year) for your work.
Timeline:
Submission Deadline: Apr 15, 2024
Artist Notification: Apr 19, 2024
Mural Completion Target: Early 2025, exact dates TBD based on artist and proposed project.
Selection Process:
Proposals will be reviewed by a selection committee comprised of Alliance for the Arts members, local artists, and community stakeholders.
The committee will evaluate proposals based on creativity, relevance to the theme, feasibility, and the artist's experience.
The selected artist(s) will receive a stipend to cover materials, travel, and labor. The exact amount will be determined based on the proposal and budget provided by the artist.
