ABOUT THE JUROR
Juror and Curator Chuck Thomas is a painter whose work deals with a hybrid combination of figure and landscape. Utilizing layer strokes and marks of color, he shapes images more discovered than planned. World travel influences, the cities, locals, figures and faces meld with nature, creating patterns with the possibility of forms materializing. As an avid scuba diver, the foundation of his current work is the undersea world. Using images from his experiences, he fashions an alternate reality, one that mirrors our own as a window into another. They are reflections, a mirror image of memory creating a place imaged.
Chuck Thomas received an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute and a BFA from the Center for Creative Studies. His work has been shown internationally and is in private collections in the US, Europe and Asia. His recent solo shows have been Spring Break art show in September 2023 and Crossing Art Gallery March 2024, both in New York City. He currently divides his time between his Brooklyn, NY and Oceanside, CA studio and is the director of Techne Art Center.
