JUROR Edward Goldman, Art Critic
For more than 30 years, Edward Goldman has been an art critic and host of Art Talk, a weekly program aired prime-time Tuesday evenings during All Things Considered on L.A.’s largest NPR affiliate, KCRW 89.9 FM. Edward is a favorite on-air presence. He is fearless, fun, and offers a unique “accent” on art. Born and educated in Russia, he was employed by the famed Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg. He offers impassioned views on what he sees in galleries, museums, and cultural events worldwide; he is not afraid to speak truth to power.
In 1998-1999, Edward appeared regularly as a commentator for the weekly TV program Life & Times Tonight on the LA Public Broadcasting Station KCET, where he served as the Arts and Culture Editor. Edward has also contributed weekly art reports to the Huffington Post. Edward has also written reviews for numerous art publications and served as a panelist, moderator, and speaker for various museums, arts organizations, and workshops.
In 2005, Edward began leading a seminar on art collecting at Otis College of Art and Design. The seminar became so popular that Edward launched his regular series of classes, “The Fine Art of Art Collecting with Edward Goldman.” Through these classes, participants have privileged access to artist studios, private collectors’ homes, art galleries, and museum exhibitions, where they engage in informal, spirited conversations about art and culture with gallery owners, collectors, artists, and more. Read more about these seminars in the New York Times article: The (Art) World According to Edward Goldman.

Artworks created and completed under the direct supervision of an instructor are not eligible. All submitted artworks MUST be for sale. TAG will handle all sales and may include a 10% discount. TAG receives a 40% commission for artwork sold in this exhibition, beginning after artists are Invited and for 30 days after the exhibition ends or after the artwork is picked up. All Invited artworks must remain on display at The Artists Gallery until Friday, August 9. Once artwork is submitted, the artwork may not be substituted or altered by the artist; this includes not increasing or decreasing the artwork size. Invited artworks will be announced on or before Friday, June 21.
ARTWORK FORMAT, PRESENTATION, REQUIREMENTS
Artwork submissions are limited to six (6) original artworks per artist, submitted as JPGs, and or (3) three video submissions. The maximum size allowed for this exhibition is 82 inches high and 52 inches wide framed. The maximum weight for artwork is 35 pounds. If the Invited art weighs more than 25 pounds or requires a substantial installation, the artist must deliver the work in-person (do not ship) on Saturday, July 20. The artist must assemble it at a gallery-arranged time on Monday, July 22. TAG does not provide screens for Video artwork. TAG provides a dozen pedestals of various heights for small sculptures.
All hanging artwork MUST be prepared with wire hanging hardware suitable for a single hook; prefabricated frames with two hangers must also arrive wired for a single hook. For heavier pieces, hidden D-rings or a French Cleat are acceptable. Ensure your artwork hangs flush to the wall before delivering it to TAG.
