1K prize and Online Exhibition.

Black House Artist, a network dedicated to empowering women artists announces:

"Women. Defining our Representation'' an art exhibition and prize that celebrates the multiplicity of women's identities, individuality, complexity, and worth.  It calls upon women artists to reclaim their narratives. We aim to inspire reflection, understanding and empathy for the diverse and authentic experiences of women by celebrating accomplishments, challenging stereotypes, exploring gender expression, and sharing personal realities. 

  • One winner will receive top $1000 art prize.
  • 30 Artists will be accepted into the online exhibition, and invited to a Live Artists Roundtable on BlackHouseArtist.com.  

Submission Deadline is June 1, 2024. 

Black House Artist is a network dedicated to empowering women artists through exhibition opportunities, professional development, art history education, and creative equality. 

Issues that may inspire you...

Motherhood,  Mental Health, Sexual Assault, Reproductive Rights, Gender Roles,  Body Shaming, Censorship, Cherished Moments, Political Action, Gender Repression.

Eligibility: Women Artists worldwide are invited to submit for this exhibition. 

Awards: 

  • One First Place Prize - $1000 US$
  • 30 pieces selected will be showcased in an online gallery exhibition. (up to 1 year See details below)
  • Live/Recorded Artist Roundtable, consideration for future one-on one-podcast interviews.

Juror: Ellen Mattesi, Director, Black House Artist

Ellen Mattesi is an artist and entrepreneur.  She has been immersed in many facets of the professional art world for over 30 years.  Within her own fine art and creative career, she has built and managed art institutions, curated exhibitions, mentored artists in technical expertise and business skills, and fostered creativity for the ethnically and mentally diverse.  This experience has culminated in a passion for championing the success and advancement of women artists. With Black House Artist, she continues this mission through education and activism with a network of artists, collectors, curators, and scholars.

Submission Fee: $35.00 us Dollars

Artwork Requirements & Specifications:

2D or 3D visual Arts (Painting, drawing, illustration, printmaking, photography, digital arts, sculpture, mixed media, etc.) We will not be accepting video or film submissions at this time NOTE: Required. Any Art created through AI technology must be labeled as such and will not be allowed for sale, only for display.

  • File Dimensions: 1,200 pixels or greater on the longest side.
  • File Size: Under 5 MB.
  • Color Profile: sRGB
  • Total Samples per submission: Minimum: 1,  Maximum: 3

With submission, the artist Agrees to the Following Rules & Terms:

All artworks must be the creation of Women Artists, 18 years or over. 

All artwork must be the original artwork of the submission artist.

Any Art created through AI technology must be labeled as such and will not be allowed for sale, only for display.

Submission and Winning Artists grant Black House Artist the right to use submitted artwork visuals, artist's names, and all submitted data for website, social media and/or any other promotional materials print or video.  The artist should own all of these rights prior to submission. Black House Artist does not claim any ownership of submitted artwork.  

Artwork is not required to be listed “for sale” to be eligible for submission.  Please list your submission with a price or as NFS.

All artwork listed for sale will remain exclusively available for sale for 6 months from the 1st day of the exhibition through Black House Artist.  If sales are made, Black House Artist will receive 30% of the total sale price.  Artist will receive 70% of the total sale price. After 6 months, the artist grants Black House Artist the right to display artwork in our gallery for a minimum of 1 year, but will no longer claim a percentage of the sale.  If the artist completes a sale after those six months through our gallery’s exposure, we do ask the artist to consider a donation to Black House Artist to be used for the purpose of grants or other promotional expenses for future underprivileged artist’s submissions. 

Artist grants Black House Artist sales management and communication with the  buyer with the goal of promoting a successful sale and delivery.

Once a piece has sold, the artist is responsible for packaging, shipping and insuring a piece securely and safely. While shipping costs are traditionally the responsibility of the buyer, and we do request and assume the buyer will cover this fee, please consider these details carefully when pricing your work.  This may be a negotiating factor in securing a sale.  Black House Artist does not hold or claim any responsibility for any lost or damaged items. 

Black House Artist reserves the right to refuse or remove any artwork from the jury process or exhibition at any time.

Submission Fees are non-refundable.

Artists who submit to Black House Artist Exhibitions will be added to the Black House Artist mailing list.  

Cash awards over $600 are subject to federal income tax withholding within the United States. A W-9 form must be filled out by the prize winner and submitted to Black House Artist. 

Sales Tax will be charged by Black House Artist, accordingly when applicable.

Payment for the Sale of Artwork will be submitted to artist within 14 days of the completion of financial transactions and acceptance of delivery of artwork. (Form of Payment will agreed upon with Artist)
