The Brighton Cultural Arts Commission is requesting proposals from professional artists to design and install a sculpture in Carmichael Park located 650 Southern Street, Brighton Colorado located east of the Brighton City Hall. Brighton, Colorado. The city will be designing and constructing a plaza where the sculpture will be the focal point. 

The theme of the sculpture is to celebrate the many volunteers that serve the Brighton Community. The volunteers include city boards and commissions, city council members, and the many service organizations that work in the Brighton Community. 

The sculpture will be of monumental size. The sculpture will be displayed outside and should be made of a material that is suitable for this application. The sculpture can be constructed of bronze, stone, metal, or other suitable materials. The sculpture shall include the base for the sculpture. The commission is looking at a proposal that will celebrate the volunteers of Brighton in a unique way.

Application Requirements

The initial submission is due by midnight July 19, 2024. The initial submission will include qualifications including prior sculptures completed and costs for the sculptures. There should be a description/drawing of the proposed sculpture included.

The Brighton Cultural Arts Commission will appoint a committee to review the submittals. The committee will select 5 to 7 proposals to further consider.  

The selected artists will be invited to an interview. The interview will include a presentation of a detailed mock-up of the suggested sculpture. The presentation shall include the cost of the sculpture, including installation. The interview will be scheduled for the week of August 5, 2024. 

A travel stipend will be provided to finalists.

The sculpture installation must be completed by December 31, 2025.
