As the saying goes, “a picture is worth a thousand words.” 

The Blooming Artist Gallery & Instruction invites our northeastern artist community to submit artwork that testifies to this truth for entry into our upcoming juried exhibition, “A Thousand Words.” This exhibit will feature an aesthetically varied showcase of fine art revealing discerning and profound originality through conscientious and deliberate execution. Both 2D and 3D works of various mediums, subjects, and styles are welcomed. 

 

Exhibition Dates: August 16 - October 12, 2024

Opening Art Reception & Awards Presentation: August 16, 2024 (5 - 8pm)

Awards Juror: Ann Larsen

Call Dates: May 10 - June 15, 2024

Artist Notification of Artwork Acceptance: June 21, 2024 

In Person Artwork Drop Off Date: July 27 & July 30, 2024 between 1 - 4pm 

Mailed Artwork Arrival Dates: July 22 - July 27, 2024

Shipping fees for accepted artwork(s) are the responsibility of the artist; a prepaid return shipping label must be included with all shipped artwork

Call Entry Fee: $45 (nonrefundable)

First Place: $350

Second Place: $150

Third Place: $50

Application Requirements

Artists may submit up to three (3) artwork submissions as part of their application

All submissions must be submitted via Call for Entry

All submission information as required via Call for Entry must be included for entry consideration

Artwork title(s) must appear exactly as you would like them to appear on our artwork tags, website, and social media

Artwork photos must accurately represent the artworks and framing, if applicable; attention should be paid to minimize any color or textural variations and photo backgrounds should be clear and without distraction
 

2-Dimensional Artwork

Artwork must be properly framed or gallery wrapped

Artwork, mat, & frame must appear neat & clean and without damages

Artwork must be properly wired (wiring must be tight enough to leave a minimum 2” clearance between top of wire and top of frame when hung so it is wall-ready) 

Only properly wired artwork will be accepted for exhibition

Minimum artwork size, including frame, is 12” x 12”

Maximum artwork size, including frame, is 36” x 36”
 

3-Dimensional Artwork

Artwork must be free-standing 

Artwork must not require electrical support, mounting, or wall hanging 

Artists must supply any necessary stand if required for display

Artwork cannot exceed 100 lbs

Artwork more than 50 lbs or artwork that requires more than one person to handle must be dropped off in person by artist on our artwork in person drop off day; if assistance is needed with delivery, artist must arrange for this personally as gallery staff may not be able to assist


 

The Blooming Artist reserves the right to exclude accepted artwork(s) from exhibition upon physical receipt of artwork(s). 

 

Eligibility Criteria

The gallery seeks to select an exhibition of fine art demonstrating excellence in terms of composition, technique, mastery of medium and quality of design

Artist’s residence or studio must be located in the northeast United States including the states of NY, CT, MA, ME, NH, NJ, PA, RI, & VT

Artwork(s) must be original and submitted by or on behalf of the living artist

Artwork(s) must have been completed within the past three (3) years

Artwork must not have been exhibited here at The Blooming Artist previously

Artist must be 18+ years of age

Acceptable mediums include acrylic, charcoal, clay, collage, colored pencil, etching, glass, graphite, metal, mixed media, oil, pastel, watercolor, & wood

Unacceptable mediums include digital art, including but not limited to art generated using AI technology, photography, and reproductions of any kind 

Artwork must be for sale and priced appropriately according to artist’s previous sales history
