ORIGINAL SMALL WORKS CALL FOR VISUAL ART

 PLEASE CAREFULLY READ REQUIREMENTS & INSTRUCTIONS

Entry deadline August 4th, 2024. Exhibit dates:  September 27th - October 22nd, 2024. 

Show your small works of art at Cape Fear Studios! The 6 by Exhibit caters to visual artists of any medium. One dimension of each creation must measure 6” before framing. Each artist may submit up to three pieces of original work, no prints or mass-produced work please. Participants 18 years old and above. Enter on: https://www.callforentry.org

2D work:              One dimension, height &/or width, must measure 6”, up to a maximum of 6 x 18 inches. Ex: 4x6, 6x6, 6x12 etc. (Dimensions before framing.) Must be properly wired for hanging. No sawtooth hangers.

3D work:              At least one dimension must measure 6” (height, width or depth) with no other dimension to exceed 12”

Entry fee:            $30 for 1st entry, up to 2 additional entries at $15 each, maximum 3 entries per person. Multiple images in a single frame are subject to entry fee per image.

Entry Deadline:  August 4th, 2024. Notification of acceptance August 21st, 2024.

Commission:      CFS retains a 30% commission on all sales.

Awards:               1st place: $450, 2nd place: $200, 3rd place: $100., two Honorable Mentions: $50 each.

Judging performed by Leslie Pearson, a multimedia artist and business owner who utilizes many fiber-based materials, processes and techniques to create sculptures, installations, encaustic paintings, and handmade books in which she explores themes of memory and identity.  She pursues her passions as a studio artist, community arts advocate and educator, as well as owning and operating Curate Essentials Herbal Apothecary in Haymount.  In 1998, she earned a Batchelor’s degree in Fine Art from Southeast Missouri State University and was heavily involved in community arts programming as the Assistant Director of the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri and co-curator of Gallery 100 and the Lorimier Gallery in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.  In 2000, she earned a Master’s degree in Museum Studies at Newcastle University in England and completed an internship at the Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art in Sutherland, UK.  In 2011, she earned an MFA in Textile Design at East Carolina University’s School of Art and Design in Greenville, North Carolina.  Pearson exhibits her work nationally and internationally.

Delivery: Accepted works, shipped or hand-delivered, must arrive at Cape Fear Studios between September 18th-21st. Shipped entries must include a prepaid return shipping label.  Please attach the exhibit label to the upper left corner of the back of your entries.  Late entries will not be accepted.

Dates: Exhibit opening reception: Friday, September 27th, 6-8 pm.

Cape Fear Studios reserves the right to refuse any work that does not comply with all specifications or differs greatly from submitted digital images. Your entry submission signifies your agreement with the terms and conditions stated, including granting permission to Cape Fear Studios to reproduce accepted paintings for advertising
