Call Description

We are happy to announce our newly established, Burnt Sienna Gallery, opened in May 2024, in Galena, IL, and is inviting artists to participate in our juried, Flora & Fauna exhibition. This call is open to all mediums (oil, acrylic, watercolor, graphite pencil, ink, pastel, mixed media, printmaking, fiber) in 2D, including photography, and 3D functional and sculptural pieces of art. During this exhibition we want to celebrate the lives of the Midwest Region's Animals (fauna) and appreciate the diversity of its' Plant Life (flora). Any interpretation of this theme is welcomed. We will accept submissions for this exhibition from the Midwest Region, which include these states:

  • Nebraska
  • North Dakota
  • Ohio
  • South Dakota
  • Wisconsin

We are located in the historic and beautiful driftless area of northwest Illinois. Our picturesque city of Galena, and the areas surrounding it, have been voted top ten in national travel destinations in numerous publications and hosts over one million tourists each year. This will be a three-month exhibition and will end December 31st, 2024. We will be looking for artwork to fill some of our future exhibitions, as well. We may ask for an extension of your artwork, but if not, the artwork is asked to be picked up by January 5th, 2025, or allowed to ship by that time with a prepaid label created by the artist.  

Application Requirements

This call is open to all mediums (oil, acrylic, watercolor, graphite pencil, ink, pastel, mixed media, printmaking, fiber) in 2D, including photography, and 3D functional and sculptural pieces of art. All ages and skill levels, but we prefer fine art pieces. 

Artist information:  The name you list is the name by which your work will be labeled for the exhibition.  Spelling and capitalization will be reproduced in the same manner you enter them on your application and all correspondence will be directed to the address, phone.

     - Artist name

     - Title

     - Size:  Width x Height x Depth in inches

     - Materials: 25 words or less

     - Techniques: 25 words or less

     - Status: How is it mounted? What condition? 

     - Photo credit: if photo is not by the artist

     - Statement about the piece, 150 words or less.

 Digital Image submission guidelines:  Failure to comply with the digital image submission guidelines may result in the rejection of your submission.

•Submit up to six pieces 

Submit one photo for each piece

•File format: JPEG or JPG only

•File dimensions: 1200 pixels or greater on the longest side.

•File size: under 5 MB

Eligibility Criteria

This juried exhibition is open regionally to all emerging and established artists who create in a variety of artistic expressions.  All entries must be original.
