 Verum Ultimum Gallery is thrilled to invite artists to explore, "The Living Mark" for the 11th year in a row & for its first appearance at Verum's new location. Artists are encouraged to enter work that is any interpretation of the call. The intention of the call is not to drive the work, but to spark an impetus, and discover unique visions to showcase.  ALL MEDIUMS are welcome. Mark making is an integral part of the creative process & the evidence of the artist’ hand is provocative.  Successful works seem to be enlivened by these marks (whether abstract or representational).   This call emphasizes the process with a focus on the individual style of the art maker (whether impassioned, studied, or subdued).  What kind of marks and/or mediums do you use to lead to great results?  Or perhaps you see the theme as a chance to express art as a metaphor for (or reflection of) life itself & its relationship to this driving force? What is your personal interpretation of this metaphoric or symbolic vehicle, “The Living Mark”?

ELIGIBILITY AND RESTRICTIONS: 
The competition is open to all 2D and 3D artists, national and international, working in all forms of painting, drawing, photography, graphics, digital, and sculpture are eligible. Entrants must be 18 years of age or older to apply. For this show wall mounted works must not be taller than 48" no wider than 48". If it is larger, the submitted work will only be considered for the 3D Virtual Gallery.

EXHIBITION: 
Selected artists will be featured in a group exhibition at the Verum Ultimum Art Gallery in Portland, Oregon. There will be an opening reception at Verum's new brick and mortar location. The exhibition will be published on the Verum Ultimum Gallery web site. Artists are featured in blogposts and social media posts. All exhibitions remain part of the Verum Ultimum website even after the exhibition closes.

EXHIBITION TERMS:
All works in the show must be for sale. The gallery will take a 35 percent commission on all sales. Sale price is determined by the artist.

ENTRY FEES: 
There is a $25.00 entry fee for one artwork entered and presentation is by digital JPG image files. There is an option to enter up to 6 images, but additional fees apply after1 image.  
Details of artwork count as an additional artwork. Artists accepted to exhibit will not be charged additional fees of any kind.

IMAGE USE / COPYRIGHTS: 
Artist retains all copyrights to submitted images and represented artwork. Digital images submitted with artist entry are for exhibition selection only and will be deleted after completion of the selection process. By entering the competition, artists selected to exhibit grant Verum Ultimum Gallery rights to use the selected image(s) on printed materials and the gallery web site for promotional purposes only. Verum Ultimum retain no copyrights to artists work. 

NOTIFICATION: 
Artists will be notified of acceptance or non-acceptance no later than 25 days after the call closes. Notification will be made via email. All artists who provide a working email address will be notified via email. Type your email address clearly, if a mistake is made you will not be notified. 

PRIVACY POLICY: 
Artist contact information (address, telephone, etc.) is only held for the purpose of contacting selected artists and is not preserved in any database. Entry data and image files are deleted on the completion of the jury process. 

DEADLINE: 
The entry deadline is July 23, 2024. Entries must be submitted via Café (https://www.callforentry.org/) by this date.
