The Decatur Artway kicks off another year as Decatur's outdoor gallery, featuring dynamic sculptures scattered throughout the city of Decatur. Sculptures will be displayed on temporary loan for two years, creating an engaging rotating collection of public art around town.  An interactive online map will permit public engagement and increase accessibility, and a plaque at each installation site will detail information about the artist and the sculpture

The Decatur Artway is presented by the Decatur Arts Alliance in partnership with the Decatur Tourism Bureau and the Decatur Downtown Development Authority.

Selected artists will be awarded an honorarium of $2,000. The installed work may be available for sale. Artwork sold as a result of the Decatur Artway will be subject to a 20% commission, which will be deducted from the purchase price and retained by the Decatur Arts Alliance. 

The sculpture must be available for the duration of the two-year contract. All submissions must be professionally constructed of durable materials which will withstand the elements. No maquettes or renderings will be considered for selection. We will only accept existing and ready-to-install works. 

Please note--if the submitted work has been selected and confirmed for another exhibition before October 1, 2024, please contact the Decatur Arts Alliance as soon as possible.

Application Requirements

If you have not registered previously with CaFÉ, setting up your portfolio is free.  For one fee of $20, artists may submit up to three artworks for the Decatur Artway.  A separate entry form must be used for each sculpture (max of 3).  On each form, up to five images of the submitted sculpture may be included.  After completing the entry information, a credit card number or PayPal account will be required to submit the first application. If second and third artworks (optional) are entered for consideration, the entry fee can be waived by inputting a coupon code as instructed in the application.

All durable outdoor media are encouraged. Work installation dates will be mid to late October but are subject to change due to artist limitations or unexpected circumstances. The lease will extend from November 30, 2024 - November 30, 2026.
