We look forward to welcoming you as a 360XQ resident. You will be genuinely wowed by this experience. Are you a photographer … be prepared to take thousands of photos. Are you a sketcher, oil, pastel or acrylic artist … you will be given endless opportunities for plein air experiences. Maybe you are a mixed-media artist or fiber artist … you will be encouraged to create works inspired by the colorful Dia de Muertos activities. On at least six different days, you will be transported to a particular community that is celebrating the holiday in their own special way. You will be given a considerable amount of time to explore the festivities, set up your easel, get out your sketchbooks, wander with your cameras and capture the experience in your chosen medium. There will be no end to the inspiration
The Feria Maestros del Arte, for the first year in its history, is being held in Ajijic. You will be just blocks from the festival. It is the most incredible gathering of artisans who travel from all corners of Mexico to bring you their handmade works of art. Thousands of art enthusiasts descend upon Lake Chapala for the experience of welcoming these artists and purchasing their wares. Again, numerous opportunities for photography, plein air painting, sketching and experiencing a legendary artisan festival will be in abundance.
As the recipient of the residency you will be given (free) accommodations in an individual, ensuite studio. A delicious, hearty breakfast is provided every day. You will also be included in one of our 360XQ salons, Artistas Juntos, where our residents share their work, inspirations and process with each other and art enthusiasts in attendance.
Application Requirements
We ask that you submit (6) examples of your work, your CV (or resume) and an artist statement. A panel of artists from within the Ajijic arts community will be chosen to review the submissions and make a collaborative decision on the recipient.
Eligibility Criteria
Submissions will be considered from visual artists of all mediums. College students enrolled in art programming will also be considered.
