The Suffolk (Virginia) Art League's Annual Juried Exhibition will be held at the Suffolk Art Gallery, 118 Bosley Ave. Suffolk, VA October 26 - December 6, 2024. This exhibit is open to artists working in all mediums. They must be over age 16 and currently live in Virginia, North Carolina, Maryland, or Washington, D.C.  Submitted artworks must not have been previously exhibited at the Suffolk Art Gallery and should have been completed within the last two years.

Entry fee: Current SAL members may submit up to three works for $25. Non-members may submit up to three works for $55, which includes an individual membership. All fees are non-refundable.

Submission of works: Applications must be submitted by Sept. 12  at midnight through CaFE'. Artists will be notified of acceptance by Fri. Sept. 27. Accepted artwork must be delivered to the Suffolk Art Gallery, 118 Bosley Ave., Suffolk, VA on Sat., Oct. 19, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. or Sun., Oct. 20, 1:30 - 4:30 p.m. Works may be shipped to the Suffolk Art League, 118 Bosley Ave., Suffolk, VA 23434. They must be packaged in a reusable container with return postage included. Shipped artwork must be received no later than Saturday, Oct. 19, 5:00 p.m.

Two-dimensional artwork must be framed and wired for hanging. Finished gallery wrap will also be accepted. NO SAWTOOTH HANGERS will be accepted. Pedestals will be provided for 3 dimensional works.

Sales: Artwork may be for sale with S.A.L. retaining a 30% consignment on all works sold. Please include this when pricing work.

Exhibited artwork must be picked up on Sat., Dec. 7, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. or Tues., Dec. 10 from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Artwork not picked up within 30 days will become the sole property of Suffolk Art League.

Juror: Elsabe' J. Dixon. Dixon is the past Executive Director of the Danville Museum of Fine Arts and History, and previously served as President for the Washington Sculptors Group, Washington D.C. while working for the Glenstone Museum in Maryland. She has taught studio art at George Mason and Averett University in Virginia and has had a three-decades long relationship with the Pyramid Atlantic Studio. As a South African born artist, Dixon is dedicated to conservation, to public service, and to advancing the role of art, history, and education through community engagement projects around eco and humanities based projects.

Application Requirements

Artists may enter up to three artworks in any medium. One image and no more than two images of each artwork may be submitted. Entry fees must be paid at the time of submission. Artists must provide an artist statement. Full-time students may receive a $5 discount using the coupon code: Student

Eligibility Criteria

Artists must be over age 16 and must live in Virginia, North Carolina, Maryland or Washington, D.C. The exhibit is open to artists working in any medium. No video or audio work will be accepted.
