Artspace's Exhibition Committee will review proposals for exhibitions of art in all genres for the 2025 calendar year season in our gallery located at 2833-A Hathaway Rd., Richmond, VA 23225, in the Stratford Hills Shopping Center.

All proposals must be submitted through CaFÉ. 

Submission deadline, Tuesday, October 1, 2024, 11:59 pm, Mountain Time. 

$35 non-refundable proposal fee required. Proposals will not be reviewed before finalized payment is received thru CaFÉ unless the fee presents a hardship for the proposer. Please contact the exhibition committee prior to submitting your proposal if you need to request an exemption from the fee at: artspaceexhibitions@gmail.com

The Exhibition Committee plans to notify selected exhibitors no later than Friday, November 15, 2024.

An announcement of the completed selections will be made by the end of December 2024.

Work exhibited should have been completed within the last 5 years of exhibition date unless the proposal is for a retrospective.

  • For video entries, artists must provide display equipment if work is selected.
  • Artwork size: All work must be able to get through our door, 33 inches width by 82 3/4 inches height with a diagonal of 88 inches. The height of gallery walls is 96 inches.

Proposals may be made for individual, group or joint shows. Full-time students are not eligible to apply for individual or joint shows.

All entry fees are used to support operations and programming costs.

Important Dates

  • Accept Applications on: August 17, 2024
  • Application Deadline: midnight, Friday, October 1, 2024, Mountain Time.
  • Jurying Dates are: October 2, 2024 – November 13.
  • Notification of acceptance: Friday, November 15.

 

Application Requirements

In your application you will need to provide the following:

  • An art resume or CV
  • Your Exhibition Proposal: A description of your proposed exhibition. Will it be a solo show, a group show? Are you the exhibiting artist? Will you be curating the work of other artists?
  • Your preferred dates to show. Available dates for 2025 are:
    • 2/28 – 3/22
    • 3/28 – 4/19
    • 4/25 – 5/17
    • 7/25 – 8/16
    • 8/22 – 9/20
    • 10/25 – 11/22
  • Will you be providing programming or workshops during the run of the show?
  • Image, video, or sound files.
  • $35 fee.

Eligibility Criteria

Selections will be made without regard to race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, age, or national origin. Every reasonable effort within the capacity of Artspace will be made to accommodate artists with disabilities or accessibility needs.

Exhibitions will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • Artistic merit, track record of past accomplishments, and the quality and nature of the work samples provided.
  • How the exhibition will contribute towards our mission of building stronger communities through contemporary arts and artists.
  • How the exhibition fosters opportunities for gathering with, understanding, and learning from art and artists.
  • How the artwork compliments or coordinates with other exhibitions during the same exhibition period.
  • How the artwork is inspired by and will contribute to broadening the understanding and awareness of contemporary art in the Greater Richmond area and/or its surrounding communities.
  • How the artwork fosters innovation and relevance to Artspace visitors.
