TAG and the LA Open 2025 celebrate the visual art of emerging and established artists of Los Angeles County. We invite you to submit your creations to L.A. Open 2025.  

This call is open to broad interpretation with a variety of mediums accepted. Artists may submit: Painting, Drawing, Photography, Printmaking, Mixed Media, Sculpture, Digital, and Video art.  No AI accepted.

JUROR: Genie Davis 

Genie Davis is a writer who loves and writes about art as well as a wide range of other subjects as a journalist, biographer, novelist, and WGA-W screen and television writer. You can see her written work in the arts on her own www.diversionsLA.com as well as in past publications of Artillery, Art & Cake, Art Scene, Fabrik, and Riot Material.

She is the curator of 2023’s Leaving Eden, a two-person thematic exhibition at Keystone Art Space; September 2024’s Thresholds, a small group exhibition at Gallery of Hermosa; and upcoming in March 2025, the international exhibition Windswept at Wonzimer Gallery.

Delivery: In-Person Drop-Off Dates Thursday - Saturday, January 2 - 4, 2025, 1 - 7 pm

Delivery / Installation of Large-scale Sculpture and Video equipment Large-scale sculpture and video equipment are required to be delivered between January 2– 4, and installed on Monday, January 6th, between 1 - 7 pm.

Shipped Artwork-Received Deadline Saturday, January 4th, 2025

SUBMISSION CRITERIA AND CONTENT:

Entries must be original and of the artist’s own execution and have not yet been shown at TAG Gallery in the past 3 years. Do not submit works which violate copyright laws. Artworks created and completed under the direct supervision of an instructor are not eligible. Once artwork is submitted it may not be substituted or withdrawn by the artist; this includes not increasing or decreasing the size of the artwork (e.g., printed mediums) between submission and delivery. Do not submit artwork that is already booked for exhibition during January 2 and February 24, 2025. All juried artworks must remain on display at TAG Gallery until Friday, January 24, 2025 until 5:00pm. All hanging artwork must have wire hanging hardware suitable for a single hook and the size and weight of the pieces(s). All hanging artwork MUST be prepared to hang on a wire with one hook, and for heavier pieces: D-Rings or a French Cleat. If your work is complex, please provide instructions and photos for installation. We reserve the right not to hang artwork prepared in a way that risks being damaged during installation (too heavy, or too fragile, or not prepared to hang.) 

ARTWORK FORMAT, PRESENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

Artwork submissions are limited to six (6) individual visual artwork images per artist, submitted as JPGs. Maximum size is 60 inches high and 45 inches wide framed. Maximum weight for sculpture is 25 lbs. If the accepted sculpture weighs 25 lbs the artist must be present for installation. The digital image(s) you upload must faithfully represent the artwork, size, and medium you submit. FORMAT FOR DIGITAL IMAGE UPLOADS (JPGS)

All entries must be submitted as a high resolution (2-3 MB) digital JPEG. Images should be cropped to remove background and/or frame. Image quality is critical. Poor photography and presentation may affect acceptance by the juror. The digital image (JPG) must faithfully represent the submitted artwork, size and medium.

ENTRIES & FEES

One entry is $35.00. Artist may add up to 5 additional entries at $5.00 each.

Payment is made through CaFÉ via credit card. Fees are non-refundable. There is no guarantee of acceptance into the exhibit.

SALES

All artworks MUST be for sale. All sales will be handled by TAG Gallery; artist will be notified when a sale is made. TAG Gallery will receive 40% commission for artwork in this exhibition, after acceptance and for 30-days after the exhibition ends, and the artwork is picked up. SHIPPING

Invited artists will receive an email with shipping and delivery information. Artists who ship artwork(s) must provide prepaid RETURN shipping labels along with their shipped artwork(s). TAG is not responsible for storing or shipping artwork that is shipped without a return label.   

RECEPTION

The in-person reception and awards ceremony for L.A. Open 2025 will be Saturday, January 11, 2025, 5 - 9 pm at TAG Gallery, 5458 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90036. Street parking is available, ride sharing is recommended.

Promotional images and email marketing is provided by TAG Gallery, and we strongly encourage cross-promotion on social media.

TAG, The Artists Gallery is a fine art gallery located on Museum Row in Los Angeles California. The Gallery represents award-winning contemporary Southern California local artists, exhibitions, and events every month.

Founded in 1993, The Artists Gallery is an artist-founded and operated not-for-profit arts cooperative that provides mutual benefit and creative freedom to its members, encouraging the exploration of new media, collaboration, and artistic focus among the members in hopes of enriching individual artists, our community, and the art world at large.

Artists 18 and over, based in Los Angeles County may submit their own paintings, drawings, photography, printmaking, mixed media, sculpture, digital, video art, No AI accepted. 

I have read the TAG SUBMISSION CRITERIA AND CONTENT and agree to its terms. The works submitted for jurying in this call and to be displayed in future TAG exhibitions are all original works I designed and executed and do not violate copyright laws. I agree that all artwork(s) submitted are available for sale, have not been purchased by any party, and are not reserved for an exhibition or event between today and February 24, 2024, and have not previously been shown at TAG Gallery. I will only upload one art image/view for each artwork submission. I understand that displayed artwork may not be removed from the gallery until the exhibition closes on January 24, and the artwork(s) sizes and prices quoted on the entry form will not be changed after acceptance. The Artists Gallery cannot guarantee that my artwork will be accepted or awarded. I agree to the 40% TAG Gallery commission on the sales price of sold art starting on the exhibition's first day and ending 30 days after the show's close, and up to a 10% discount on the sales price when TAG is selling my artwork(s) while on display in the gallery. Any sales generated from being exhibited at TAG are subject to this commission. Only exhibited artwork may be eligible for awards. I understand all submission fees are non-refundable and payable only through callforentry.org. Artwork will be handled with the utmost care. Work will be insured while on display and in the possession of the Gallery. TAG does not insure Artwork during transit. I understand that I retain the full copyright of my original artwork with my submission. I agree that this artwork submission is granting a license to TAG and its assignees to use the images I submit with my application to be reproduced for publicity and documentary purposes and to allow researchers and commercial filmmakers to use the artwork displayed at TAG as a backdrop. The artist will be responsible for the delivery, shipment and pickup of the art within and on the dates outlined in the prospectus. I acknowledge that TAG does not assume responsibility for work not picked up on the designated pick-up dates or artwork shipped without prepaid return shipping labels. I agree to reveal and label AI-generated or AI-sourced artworks to this exhibition and to indemnify TAG for claims of copyright infringement involving my artworks promoted or exhibited with TAG. TAG reserves the right to make final interpretations of all rules governing this exhibition, competition, and future TAG Exhibitions. TAG makes no representations other than those set out in this disclaimer.
