The Sheldon Jackson Museum is accepting applications for Solo Artist Exhibitions.
Alaska Native visual artists living in the United States are welcome to apply. Applications should be submitted for review by November 15, 2024. Artists may use existing work in their application but are strongly encouraged to develop new work for this opportunity.
Applications will be reviewed by a committee made up of museum staff and artist professionals. Selections will be based primarily on the quality of the work presented (10 digital images minimum plus up to 5 video pieces) but also on the artists record of professional activity (artist’s resume) and their exhibition proposal (letter of intent). Applications need to be submitted online at CaFÉ (callforentry.org). Three artists will be selected for solo exhibitions to take place from February through mid-April of 2026, February through mid-April of 2027, and February through mid-April of 2028. Selected artists will be announced in December 2024.
Application Requirements
To be considered for a solo exhibition, all applicants must submit the following on CaFÉ:
1. 10 high quality digital images that reflect the type of work you wish to exhibit. Submit each entry as a JPEG file, size under 5 MB. (The artist also has the option to submit up to 5 video files, size under 100 MB).
2. Cover sheet with the artist's name and address, and a detailed list of the work submitted including the title, medium, dimensions, and date of creation for each.
3. Artist's resume listing the exhibition history of the applicant.
4. Letter of intent detailing the artist's proposed exhibition.
Upload specifications for image files and video files:
You can find a list of accepted file formats on the CaFÉ Media Help page.
Eligibility Criteria
Open to Alaskan Native visual artists 18 years of age or older living in the United States who have not had a solo exhibition at the museum within the past ten years.
