Monochromica - The Journal Of Monochrome Art is a bi-monthly boutique-quality publication dedicated to bringing fresh dynamic art to the forefront, all in the issue's monochrome color scheme.

Monochromica is distributed and available to art curators, collectors, consultants, and interior designers worldwide -- the people looking for art themed by specific color scheme and tone.

The color for Issue 001 is BLUE. Published artworks will adhere to the color theme for the issue -- preferably all tones of the issue's color theme. Additional colors are allowed, provided they are minimal and accent only.

Each issue has a call for artists to submit their art for juried consideration. Selected artists receive a two page gatefold presentation in the next issue, featuring their headshot, biography, artist statement (if submitted), and social media/contact information, along with up to 3 of their submitted artworks based on available space. All art is published in full color.

Your artwork, information, and link will also be displayed in the Monochromica online 3D virtual art gallery exhibition for that issue.

Submission to our juried artist calls is free. Selected artists will be asked to pay a US$100 inclusion fee for publication.

For maximum and environmentally positive distribution, Monochromica is distributed electronically. Print copies may be ordered on-demand indefinitely from our website. Artists may order issues at or below cost.

NOTIFICATION

All artists will be notified of our jury's opinion via email within 7 business days after the submission deadline.

FEES

Submitting to this juried call is FREE. There is no cost to submit for consideration. If you are selected for our next issue, you will be asked to pay a US$100 inclusion fee for publication.

Application Requirements

You will be asked to submit the following information:

  • Your Full Name;
  • City/Country;
  • Email Address;
  • Phone Number;
  • Social Media Links (Facebook, Instagram, etc.);
  • Website URL (optional);
  • Artist Biography;
  • Artist Statement (optional);
  • Clear Print-Quality Headshot Photo.

You can submit 1 to 10 artworks. Each artwork should adhere to the color theme for the issue -- preferably all tones of the issue's color theme. Additional colors are allowed, provided they are minimal and accent only. For each artwork submitted, we ask that you include:

  • Title of Artwork;
  • Medium (e.g., Canvas, Fine Art Paper, Digital, Photograph, etc.);
  • Technique(s) Used (e.g., Watercolor, Acrylic, Oil, Digital, etc.);
  • Year of Creation;
  • Description;
  • Size In Inches or Centimeters (Width by Height by Depth)
  • If art is for sale, include the price -- we do not take any commission for sales generated by inclusion in Monochromica! If the art is not for sale, leave blank or NFS.

If this information is already entered into your CaFE portfolio artworks, it's super easy to submit, so make sure that info is in there. All submitted art must, of course, be your original work. Any work that can be photographed can be submitted, though photos should only show the artwork itself, no frames, easels, etc.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Our art calls are open to any artist, professional or amateur, worldwide.
  • You may submit up to 10 artworks for consideration. Consistency of quality is a major factor for consideration. Subject matter or theme is open, we want to see your creativity. We prefer artworks created within the last 5 years.
  • Each artwork should adhere to the color theme for the issue -- preferably all tones of the issue's color theme. Additional colors are allowed, provided they are minimal and accent only.
  • You may submit 2- or 3-dimensional work that was done in any medium, provided it can be clearly photographed.
  • You may submit any size images for your artwork, but high resolution print quality is preferred. If your artwork is selected and it is not high enough resolution for print (maximum 2400x3000 at 300dpi), you may be asked to provide a higher resolution file.
  • Photos should not show anything but the artwork itself. In the case of sculptures, the surface of the supporting pedestal may be shown.
  • All artwork submitted must be your original artwork, created without instructor supervision. You must own the rights to your artwork.
  • If an entry is found to be a copy or derivative of any other copyrighted work, the artist will be banned from future calls.
  • We do not accept artwork that, in our jury's opinion, contains violence, hatred directed toward any group of people, pornography, inappropriate and/or offensive content. If you feel that one of your submitted artworks is controversial, please include an explanation in the Description area of the artwork's Portfolio entry. This will be decided upon by our jury and the decision is final.
