Call to Artists
Play Frisco Cultural Affairs seeks two-dimensional and three-dimensional artworks that thematically reflect on the transient nature of life and the reality of death through cultural, humorous, and serious symbolism and artistic tropes.
About the Exhibition
In Latin, “Memento Mori” means ‘remember you must die’ and this exhibition will emphasize works of art that give pause for the memory of loved ones, that celebrate Hispanic heritage, and which find humorous and serious connections to mortality.
Media
All types of artistic media will be considered. All artworks must be framed, wired, and ready to display or hang. Generally, pieces may not be larger than 72” in any direction. Any altar-type pieces must be coordinated with staff, and the artist must submit photos of the completed altar, or detailed sketches of the structure and elements of the installation. No perishable or irreplaceable items may be used. No candles, unless they remain unlit or are battery operated. Keep in mind that the Frisco Discovery Center is a place for all ages and artworks must be unifying, community-centric and family-friendly.
