We are trying something new for our next Mayton Exhibit. Let’s celebrate and support our Abstract artists. We know you are out there and have lots of art to show us.
The size limits will be the same, 10 x 10 to 30 x 40. All media accepted, acrylics, oils, watercolors, pastels, mixed media etcetera, etcetera.
Each artist may submit up to 3 submissions for the one submission fee of $15.00.
Work must be for sale. Works sold from the show will be replaced with artwork from the Waitlist. Please review FALC Display Guidelines attached to the bottom of this document.
What counts as art in this situation? It must be original and be able to hang on a wall. It can be painting, photography, modified photography, collage, mixed media, textile, ceramic, pencil, ink, wood relief and digitally-generated artwork. AI-generator is allowed as long as it is the subject is original and complies with the content guidelines listed here. For instance, an AI generated version of Van Gogh’s sunflowers would not be considered original, but an AI-generated rendering of an astronaut on the moon in the style of Van Gogh would be ok. Please note that all digital pieces must follow size and framing rules as laid here.
Size: The maximum size remains at 30” x 40”. The minimum size is 10”x 10” without a frame.
Framing: In addition to the traditional frame or gallery wrapping, alternative professional presentation options will be considered. These may include float framing or mounted on stretchers. However, for art using non-traditional framing, we will require an additional photo showing the presentation when the work is submitted, allowing the submission committee to fully consider the work.
MORE ON FRAMING
1. Minimum size of artwork should be no smaller than 10”x10”
2.Do not use plastic coated wire as hanging material. This kind of wire slides around on the hanging system hook and the work will hang crooked.
3.Do not use fine wire on your work. Use proper hanging wire. The fine wire is too flimsy and is very tough on hands when hanging.
4.Wire should be connected one third down the back of the painting or frame for optimum balance. If it’s connected too far down, the top of the painting will hang forward.
5.When you twist and then tape the ends of the wire, please do so close to the sides and not in the middle. If the taped wire is in the middle, it cannot be placed on the hook.
6.If you submit an older piece, please dust off you painting and clean the glass.
7.It takes time and effort to put forth a beautiful and professional work of art. That thinking should be carried into the hanging platform.
8. No sawtooth hangers.
9. If your piece is tall or large please consider adding another anchor to the bottom stretcher to reduce the tipping effect.
Submissions Fee: A nominal charge of $15 per Artist payable at time of registration.
Label your artwork: Please remember to label your artwork on the back with the title, price and your contact information. This is very important, we process up to 70 pieces of art in one day and this will prevent mix ups with labeling, etc.
Please Read carefully all the way to the end of the guidelines to ensure your work complies. Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in refusal to hang your art even if the art itself has been accepted.
ART NOT PICKED UP ON TIME WILL BECOME THE PROPERTY OF FALC

FALC Display Guidelines:
All work must be totally dry and ready to hang and ready to be sold. Ready to hang means the following:
Dates and times: Respect the delivery and pick up dates and times. Non-compliance may mean refusal of entry from the current show and the next show. FALC Volunteers are volunteering their time. Please be respectful.
Labeling: Work delivered must be physically labeled on the back with a tag, business card or handwritten label on the frame with the Artist’s name and contact information. This is to help us get your work to you if needed.
Framing/matting: Work on paper must be matted and framed. Large works (over 22 inches x 30 inches or 66 square inches total) should be framed using plastic, not glass, because of the weight.
Work on canvas may be unframed if the edges are painted as an integral part of the work. For The Mayton gallery-wrapped canvas must be at 1.5” deep or more.
