2-Dimensional Work - Emerging artists of diverse mediums are encouraged to apply. Exhibits will be 2-4 months in duration and may be individual or group shows. The gallery space consists of approximately 60 feet of rail space. 

Video - Video artists will be selected to present in rotation for 2-4 months in duration and may be individual or group shows. Works should be no more than five minutes in length and cannot include sound due to the nature of the public space.

About the Gallery - The City Hall gallery is an open space in the main lobby and hallway leading to the City Council Chambers. Around the open gallery space are city office reception desks that are frequented by the public and city personnel.  

Eligibility - This opportunity is open to experienced and emerging artists residing in Washington state with preference given to artists living in King and Snohomish Counties.  

Promotion - Exhibitions are publicized through city-generated e-newsletters, social media, and the City’s website. Artists may choose to independently produce supplemental publicity materials and show business cards in the gallery space during exhibition. 

Sales - Artists are encouraged to offer their works for sale but are not required to do so. All sales are handled privately between the artist and the buyer. The City of Bothell does not accept commissions on any works sold through the gallery.  

Hours of Operation - Hours are typically Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm with evening meetings frequently taking place. City Hall is closed on government holidays. 

Selection Process - A diverse panel of experts will review applications and base their recommendations on demonstrated artistic merit. Applications will also be evaluated on appropriateness in concept and content for a public location.  

Project Period - Exhibits will be scheduled immediately following the selection of artists and every effort will be made to accommodate artists’ preferred exhibition dates. 

Exhibit Set-Up - The 2-dimensional gallery uses 60 feet of professional STAS j-rail max hanging system with ample natural light filtering through an atrium ceiling.  All 2-dimensional work must be mounted or framed and ready to hang with wires.  All work must be delivered and picked up in person and will be installed with assistance from City of Bothell staff.  

Selected video artists will work with staff to develop final output. 

The time between exhibitions is predetermined and an installation and deinstallation dates and times will be assigned.

Application Requirements

Application Requirements - Submit work representative of the type of work proposed for exhibition. 

2-Dimensional Digital Images - Up to six (6) representative images 

Video - Up to three (3) work samples of proposed work in digital video format  

Artist Statement - Include a brief description of representative images and why you are interested in exhibiting at the Bothell City Hall Gallery. Please also detail any past exhibit history.  

Solo/Group Showing - Indicate your preference for a solo or group show. If preference is solo, be sure to have sufficient inventory. Potential group shows will be curated with other artists open to a group show that have applied for this call. If this is a group call (more than one artist applying), samples of artwork and a brief statement for each artist is required.
