2025 Regional Juried Spring Open
Thank you for your interest in applying to Wayne Art Center’s 2025 Regional Juried Spring Open. The exhibition runs from March 31 to April 26, 2025 at Wayne Art Center, 413 Maplewood Avenue, Wayne, PA 19087.

TWO Works Permitted per Application

Wayne Art Center’s 2025 Regional Juried Spring Open is an exhibition featuring works in painting, drawing, printmaking, works on paper, photography, mixed media, ceramics, sculpture, glass, jewelry, metals, fiber and 3D printing technology.  Artists from PA, NJ, NY, DE, MD, VA and Washington, DC are eligible to submit UP TO TWO original works created between 2023 and 2025. Artists submitting 3-dimensional works may upload an additional view of each of up to two pieces.  Artists should NOT submit more than two works for consideration per application.  

Artists are permitted to submit additional CaFE accounts/applications. Artists should use the same name and contact (including email) information for both applications but must use a different username to create additional CaFE accounts/applications.

 

Juror – Christine Lafuente

Christine Lafuente is an artist, curator, educator and writer. She studied at Bryn Mawr College, the Barnes Foundation and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts before receiving her MFA from Brooklyn College.  Her work has received international recognition and she has earned numerous grants and awards, including a Juror’s Award for Excellence from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts; the Sketch Club Medal for Achievement in Visual Arts from the Philadelphia Sketch Club; and a Howard A. and Gail F. Schaevitz Foundation Grant.

Lafuente has taught and lectured at many colleges and art centers, including Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia, PA; Arts Council of Princeton, NJ; Winslow Arts Center in Bainbridge Island, WA; ArtsWaves in Bar Harbor, ME and Wayne Art Center. Her work can be found in several public collections including Princeton University, College of William and Mary, ARCO Chemical Company, Philadelphia, and Cigna Insurance Company in Philadelphia.

Her writings have appeared in many publications, including Fine Art Connoisseur, American Art Collector and International Artist.  Her paintings are recognized by their masterful depiction of light, her use of color and by their rich brushwork. 

Lafuente shares, “I have discovered the act of seeing to be itself an aesthetic or poetic act.”  The artist lives and works in Brooklyn and spends her summers painting in Maine.

 

Awards
Prizes in the amount of $3,000 will be awarded and presented at the Reception & Awards Presentation on Sunday, April 13, 2025 from 3-5 pm.

 

 Eligibility Requirements

Open to artists 18 and older from PA, NJ, NY, DE, MD, VA and Washington, DC.

Eligible media include painting, drawing, printmaking, works on paper, photography, mixed media, ceramics, sculpture, glass, jewelry, metals, fiber and 3D printing technology. 3D work should not weigh more than 70 lbs.  WAC's galleries can accommodate work up to 12 feet high (at any length) as long as it is installation-ready and can fit through the doors of the art center which are 90” high X 60” wide.

Works submitted must have been completed after January 1, 2023.  

All works must be for sale. 

Works previously exhibited at Wayne Art Center are not eligible. 

Collaborative work is accepted. Please include all artists’ names on the online application.

Please contact Wayne Art Center if you have an excessively large and/or complex installation. Additional expense will be incurred by the artist if artwork requires carpentry, special surface treatment to gallery walls or a custom-built pedestal/armature or specific installation request.

All accepted work MUST BE HAND-DELIVERED TO AND RETRIEVED FROM Wayne Art Center. NO shipped work will be accepted.  NO exceptions.

Artwork must remain on display throughout the duration of the exhibition.

Withdrawal of invited work by the artist prior to the exhibition will result in exclusion from exhibiting at WAC the following year. 

​​Entry Information
Each application may include UP TO TWO entries for juror consideration.  3-D artists are invited to include additional image views of submitted work, but no application should include more than two works.

All images should be at least 300 dpi resolution.  File Format:  JPEG or JPG only. File Size under 5mb.  Please name each jpeg file with the TITLE of the work and specify multiple views with "full" or "detail" view.  Please record all 2-D artwork dimensions to INCLUDE FRAMING.

The entry fee is $50 for UP TO TWO artworks. Entry fee is non-refundable.

Visa, MasterCard, AMEX or PayPal will be accepted for entry fee payment. Applications will not be finalized until the entry fee has been paid.  Entries must be complete and submitted by midnight, February 17, 2025.

For 3D works, a detail image or additional view may be submitted along with the overall image- therefore up to two views per piece for 3D works are welcome. All images should be at least 300 dpi resolution.

Exhibition inventory for works invited to this exhibit will be created from your submission listing. Updates, edits and changes to any part of listings for title/medium/size/price of work after entry and for the in-gallery exhibition can be made only by contacting WAC.  A $20 administrative fee applies to any requested changes.  Artists are asked to carefully review submission info before completing entry.

Communications
Notification to artists will be shared via e-mail. An e-mail will be sent for EACH image submitted. Please read each result e-mail carefully, to understand the status of each submission. The artist contact email provided on the online application must remain active during the submission and exhibition process. The artist is responsible for checking email (and SPAM) for acceptance and/or decline and other information regarding Wayne Art Center’s 2025 Regional Juried Spring Open. Notifications will be shared via email on March 1. Please do not contact Wayne Art Center for updates regarding notifications until after notifications are emailed on March 1 and after checking SPAM.

Insurance and Liability
While all precautions will be taken to ensure the protection of selected work upon receipt, Wayne Art Center cannot assume liability for any loss or damage to artwork in transit. Wayne Art Center provides insurance coverage only while work is on our premises.  All work will be insured for 60% of its retail value.

Submission of work to this exhibition constitutes an agreement on the part of the artist to all terms and conditions of this entire prospectus, which includes, but is not limited to, the right of Wayne Art Center to use entries images for publicity purposes. Wayne Art Center will not be responsible for works not claimed by Monday, April 28, 2025. Work not retrieved by May 30, 2025 will become the property of Wayne Art Center.

Installation
All work should be submitted installation ready. 2-D work should always be framed with only the exception of deep/gallery wrapped canvases with finished sides.  Framed work should arrive wired and ready to hang and 3D work should be stable enough to sit securely on a pedestal or come with a base that provides stability.  If artwork installation is overly complex, Wayne Art Center will contact the artist to request assistance with the installation process. An artist may be required to assume financial responsibility for any alternations (painted walls, site-specific pedestals, armatures, lighting, electrical, etc.) that are requested or required by a particular installation. The artist is welcome to install their complex artworks if necessary. Installation requests must be requested in advance and approved by Wayne Art Center.

Sales Policy
All work MUST BE FOR SALE and the price identified on the entry application must remain constant throughout the duration of the exhibition. Wayne Art Center processes all sales and will retain 40% commission of the sale price, or on any sale that results from mediation by Wayne Art Center staff.  Sales are processed within 45 days of the close of the exhibition. Wayne Art Center processes all resulting commissions of work that occur as a result of this exhibition at the same rate of 60/40 Artist/WAC. Payment will not be issued until a W9 is received by Wayne Art Center.
