For centuries the skill of recording scenery, subjects, and historical events through hand-crafted artworks were relied upon by society to understand the imagery associated with the civilized and uncivilized world around them. That skill evolved over time as devoted artists strived to depict their images as closely as possible to the real thing, setting new standards for artists that would last forever. Art Scene West wants to celebrate this genre of Realism and the contemporary masters who carry on that tradition.

DETAILS

- Art Scene West will remit 60% of the sales commission to the artist and withhold 40% for gallery expenses. 

- Images larger than 36” on the longest side that are submitted and accepted into the exhibition will require an additional fee to participate in the exhibition. 

- All of the artworks selected to participate will be hung on our walls for the entire duration of the exhibition. 

- Art Scene West will upload the images and offer them for sale on our website during the exhibition and for as long as the artist allows.

GALLERY LOCATION:

Seaport Village, 803 W Harbor Drive, suite E1-E, San Diego 92101 (Lighthouse District).

FEES

There is a $25 submission fee to review all of the submitting artist's artwork and biography. For artists who are selected into this opportunity, there is a $100 participation fee. This helps cover the costs of handling and curating the artwork inside the gallery and uploading the artists’ content onto our website and Social Media channels. Artists are responsible for shipping and return-shipping fees.

TIMELINE

• Submission deadline: January 18th, 2025.
• Artists will be notified of their selection by January 20th.
• Last day for Artists to pay the participation fee: January 24th.
• Artwork delivery deadline: January 31st.
• Online Exhibition goes live on February 4th.
• Opening Reception at the gallery: Saturday, February 15th, 2025.
• Unsold artwork will be shipped back to artists beginning on March 3rd.

Application Requirements

Artists must meet and accept the requirements below as outlined by Art Scene West. 

ARTWORK SUBMISSION IMAGE REQUIREMENTS

Artists are encouraged to send images that will best represent the quality of their artwork to both the Art Scene West curating team and art collectors. The images submitted for review will be the same used on the Art Scene West website if selected. 

• Maximum 4 images of the artwork(s).
• Only clear and accurate images of an artwork will be considered.

Eligibility Criteria

• Artworks must be an original creation of the submitting artist.
• Artworks must be available for sale.
• Artworks must be a creation made in the past 5 years.
• Artworks larger than 36" on the longest side that are submitted and accepted will require an additional fee to participate in the exhibition.
