This special program at Joshua Tree Retreat Center in beautiful Yucca Valley, California will focus on professional practices in areas of gallery representation and museum exhibitions, self-promotion, use of social media in promotion, the importance of relevant critical writing, presentation, and identifying and strategizing personal/professional goals.
The workshop will take place June 6-8, 2025 with local fare provided for daily breakfast and lunches, and optional morning and evening activities. Housing is included in tuition. Through private one-on-one sessions and group meetings, students will have the rare opportunity to meet with a team of guest professionals and build specific strategic plans for their individual practice.
Application Requirements
Fill out application, upload images that best represent your body of work and pay the application fee before deadline of February 10, 2025 at 5pm. 16 participants will be selected by our Jury. Accepted artists will be notified by Friday, February 14, 2025 and must pay their tuition of $1450 (housing and meals included) in advance by May 1, 2025 in order to confirm and hold their place. Participants are responsible for their own travel and expenses. Workshop will run Saturday - Sunday, June 7 and 8 from 9am - 5pm, with optional morning and evening activities. Check in for artists will be Friday, June 6, 2025 at 3pm. A Welcome dinner will take place Friday, June 6 at 5pm. Joshua Tree Retreat Center is in a rustic desert setting amongst joshua trees and high desert flora and fauna in the community of Yucca Valley and has shared housing and public spaces. Deadline to apply is February 10, 2025 at 5 pm PST.
Eligibility Criteria
Participant must have a creative practice (curators welcome), must speak and understand English, fill out the application in its entirety by the deadline, pay the tuition in full, and must be able to attend the workshop June 6-8, 2025 in Joshua Tree, California.
