Fraser Valley Arts is pleased to announce our 5th Annual Plein Air @ Altitude Saturday August 23rd - Sunday August 31st.

Previous years have juried artists from across the country, sold over 80 paintings, and enjoyed a lovely Fall experience in the Fraser Valley painting all over Grand County at private ranches, Winter Park Resort, Grand Lake, and Rocky Mountain National Park, and more. This year will be more of the same, along with an artist-centric program ensuring you get lots of time to meet and socialize with fellow painters.   

Having grown over each of our 4 years and taken the counsel of our participating artists, PA@A 2025 will take a significant step forward this year with increased prize amounts for artists, the addition of (optional) painting opportunities in different parts of the year, more sales opportunity via Fraser Valley Art’s increasing slate of events throughout the year, and the invitation to bring one studio painting to the show.

Plein Air @ Altitude 2025 will highlight:

- A selection of private lands for exclusive views

-An increase in cash prizes for award winners ranging from $2,500 to $500

-More optional painting dates during the year, including a winter painting location

-A studio painting submission

-Even more opportunities to sell artwork throughout the year!

Community events:

  - Evening artist gatherings and Fraser Valley Arts supporters

  - Reception and Gala Open House Saturday Evening in downtown Winter Park (sold out in 2023!)

  - A public viewing to our Plein Air Art Festival on Sunday, September 1st

  - Time with our Featured Artist Judge, Lorenzo Chavez

This event is a fundraiser for Fraser Valley Arts, a 501(c)(3) non-profit. Fraser Valley Arts will retain 40 percent of all sales revenue generated throughout the sale with the artist receiving 60%. Commissioned pieces will also be permitted at the above-mentioned rate. Payments for all work sold will be mailed shortly after the exhibition closes.

Application Requirements

Artist Applications open in January & close on May 1st, 2025 or when capacity is full. Acceptances will be on a rolling basis before the closing date. Apply early to take full advantage of our added winter painting date! 

Eligibility Criteria

Plein Air Artists willing to participate in a majority of the main painting week, August 24-31st are invited to apply. (Painting opportunities outside of the fall event are optional.)
