Join local Plein Air Artists and Bloomin' Arts exhibitors on Sunday, March 2, 2025 as they Paint and express the “Spirit of the Festival” via form, structure, value and color in variety of art mediums. This event is open to all artists wishing to paint in Plein Air.  Early registration online through Lakeland Arts Association is $30.  To register onsite the day of the event will be $35. Bloomin’ Arts exhibitors will be able to compete for free, information will be provided for you in your artist packet. This is a “rain or shine” event, there will be no refunds for inclement weather.

Timeline for event:

Event Date: Sunday, March 2, 2025

Artists will check in on site Sunday March 2, 8-9 am.  Artists will have up to two surfaces stamped for painting. Registration will be held in Fort Blount Park at the Lakeland Arts Association tent.

Paint in Plein Air 9am-12pm. 

Work will be judged from 12 – 1pm. 

Exhibit works 1 pm-3 pm

Awards  - totaling $575 -  will be announced at 3pm during the Bloomin’ Arts award ceremony.

Judging:

You will need to return by 12:15 pm to the registration tent and check in. Paintings will be checked for stamps. You will then be directed to the standing gallery area where you will display your painting on your easel to be judged.  This area will be monitored by LAA volunteers.

When you check in with your finished painting you will be given a label for each piece. You will put your name, telephone number, title, medium, size and price / NFS. This label will be attached to the painting. Artists may choose to frame their work to aid in selling it, but it is not required.

We are honored that Wayne Chunat will be judging this event. He will be judging between 12 and 1 pm. Winners announced at 3 pm at the Bloomin’ Arts Awards Ceremony.

Cautions/releases:

All entries are displayed at artist’s risk. The Lakeland Arts Association and Bloomin Arts Festival will not be responsible for theft or damage to frames /paintings/ equipment.

 Submission of works for judging and sales constitutes an agreement by the artists to the provisions within this prospectus.

Artists participating in this event grant permission for Lakeland Arts Association and Bloomin Arts Festival to use their name and images for the purpose of advertisement in this and future show events. Artist allows sponsoring agents and news media the right to use a photo of your work in this and future promotions of this event.

Parking will be an issue. Parking will be available around the perimeter of the event.  Be prepared to walk.

Equipment:

In addition to your Plein Air box, you may wish to bring:

Small shade umbrella,

Camp stool or small folding chair.

Collapsible Folding floor easel or comparable – not required, pieces can be displayed on tables.

Cooling neck cloth

Frame and mounting hardware and display easel.

Application Requirements

This competition is open to all competitors over the age of 18 years of age. 

Eligibility Criteria

This in person competition is available to all artists aged 18 years of age or older.
