We live in a time of fragmentation, socially and personally.  While it could be argued this has always been the case, artists today have found unique ways to both reflect and challenge these conditions. Many artists respond to this fragmentation through the surprising combination of elements that already exist in the world. Collage, assemblage, photomontage, quilting, installation, and ad hoc applications of mixed media are inherently suited to paradox, multiple viewpoints, and plurality, serving up aesthetic harmony to help us make sense out of the chaos.  Artlink is excited to offer this call-for-entry to artists who are stepping into the fragmentation, bringing together new ways of seeing and thinking through these creative strategies.  We encourage artists to think broadly about the various ways collage, assemblage, and other processes of combination are evidenced in their work.

This exhibition will be juried by Teresa Vazquez. Teresa Vazquez is an artist, Dream Midwife, educator, writer, mother, and grandmother of Afro Cuban heritage, born and raised in Chicago and currently residing in Fort Wayne, IN. She has a BA in Creative Writing from Oberlin College and an MFA in Studio Art from the Art Institute of Chicago.

Teresa is currently the Art Education and Pre-Art Therapy Program Director and Assistant Professor at University of Saint Francis, and also a Teacher at Newfields’ Creativity and Wellness Programs.
