3rd Annual Apis Opus at NKollectiv Gallery
Apis: The common genus of bees
Opus: A work of art
NKollectiv is proud to invite you to apply for the 3rd annual Apis Opus, a celebration of wax media. This is a juried show of work derived from beeswax-based media, alone or combined with other materials. Both two-dimensional and three-dimensional work will be considered. 2025 marks the third annual Apis Opus exhibition at NKollectiv. The first two events were focused solely on encaustic work by local Colorado artists. For 2025, all U.S. artists working in any beeswax-based media such as encaustic or cold-wax medium are invited to apply!
Venue: NKollectiv Gallery has been in operation since 2021 and is managed by artist Nicole Korbe, who works in both encaustic medium and cold wax with oil and other media. The gallery is known for its highly curated collection of quality artists who work in unusual media, several in encaustic and also cold wax. The gallery also features clay works, fine-art printmaking, jewelry, mixed media painting, and sculptures in wood, steel and ceramic.
NKollectiv recently moved and is settled in its new permanent location in the hip downtown district of Englewood, as the anchor of the new art hub, (EASEL) Englewood Art Studios, Events, Lessons. EASEL features two large gallery spaces plus additional display space in a sweeping hallway with skylights and an auxillary gallery space. In addition, there is an event space and local artist studios. It is located on the second floor above two of Englewood’s popular destinations, a restaurant and coffee shop and novelty store. In addition, several other popular restaurants, bars, and businesses are located on the same block. The gallery is open 6 days a week with regular business hours, and is also accessible to all attendees of events held in the event space (art and wellness classes, parties, meetings, etc).

She holds a BFA from Syracuse University and has exhibited her work at notable institutions such as the Albuquerque Museum & The Fort Collins Museum of Art. She has received grants, Including a Residency Grant, from the International Encaustic Artists. Austin Rolo’s work is in collections across North America.

Her career was jumpstarted when Victoria Eubanks asked her to be an assistant in the encaustic classes at Art Students League of Denver. That led to deep friendships with other aspiring encaustic artists; participation in shows, art fairs, and gallery representation; and now teaching her own brand of encaustic classes at EASEL, Outside the Box Studio, and Art Students League of Denver.
