SMALL WORKS MARKETPLACE

Miniatures, Small Paintings, and Small Artisan Works make up the Festival's Small Works Marketplace. This means that buyers may take their purchases when they pay, rather than having to wait until the end of the Festival to pick them up. This Gallery is popular with Festival attendees and sales are robust. Like the larger Art categories in Call 1, this is a juried show. Juror biographies are posted on the website.

June 7 – Drop-off accepted work at Frances Anderson Center (700 Main St., Edmonds, WA) Hours: 12 p.m. - 6 p.m. All pieces must be dropped off by 6 p.m. June 7
June 9 – Artist Award Reception, 6:30 p.m., Plaza Room, 650 Main Street, Edmonds
June 13-15 – FESTIVAL, Friday & Saturday, 10 a.m. - 7 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
June 15-16 – Pick-up of unsold pieces: June 15, 5:15 p.m. - 7 p.m. and June 16, 10 a.m. - noon.

FEES AND ENTRY INFORMATION
Entry Fee: $25.00 total for one to four pieces entered in Miniatures, Small Paintings, and/or Small Artisan Works.

CATEGORIES and REQUIREMENTS

Read these descriptions carefully in order to apply correctly! We allow up to four entries, so you may apply in more than one category. Before checking out, review your application to make sure your art is entered into the correct category to be judged appropriately. If you enter the wrong CALL, we cannot correct your error and move your entry to the correct one.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR MINIATURES, SMALL PAINTINGS, and SMALL ARTISAN WORKS

Miniatures

Paintings in all traditional painting mediums: oil, acrylic, tempera, pastel, airbrush, gouache and watercolor. Entries in this category may also include Mixed Media 2D and Drawing. Photography or Digital Art are not accepted in this category (see Call 1). We also accept work that has less emphasis on fine detail and the 1/6 scale; however, the same size requirements below apply. We recommend the price be between $75 - $300, although this is not a requirement. 

Presentation & size requirements for Miniatures: 

  • Artwork can be any size up to 5”x 5” (25 sq. in.). This includes unframed gallery wrapped canvases with finished sides.
  • Framed artwork must not exceed  8”x 6” (48 sq. in.), while maintaining the surface size of the artwork as noted above.
  • All artwork, framed and unframed, must be professional in appearance, wired, and ready for hanging. Sawtooth picture hangers are NOT accepted.

SMALL PAINTINGS

Paintings in all traditional painting mediums: oil, acrylic, tempera, pastel, airbrush, gouache and watercolor. Entries in this category may also include Mixed Media 2D and Drawing. Print-making and Photography are not accepted in this category (see Call 1 for these). We recommend the price be between $75 - $300, although this is not a requirement. 

Presentation & size requirements for Small Paintings: 

  • Artwork can be sized starting from 6”x 6” (36 sq. in.) up to 12”x12” (144 sq. in.) unframed. Artwork can be framed or unframed. Unframed work must have 1.5” sides that are painted for a professional finished look.
  • All artwork must be wired, and ready for hanging. Saw-tooth picture hangers are NOT accepted.

SMALL ARTISAN WORKS

Fine arts crafts based on functional concepts. Includes fiber arts, woodwork, ceramics, jewelry, glass, beading, etc. All pieces must be priced at no more than $300. If your art items are of greater monetary value, we encourage you to enter the general Artisan Works or Sculpture categories in Edmonds Arts Festival Gallery Arts Main Categories Call 1. 

Size requirements for Small Artisan Works: 

  • Small three-dimensional work may not exceed 12”x12”x12”.

DIGITAL IMAGE REQUIREMENTS – ALL CATEGORIES 

  • Jpeg images are required for all entries. Please take a clear photo WITHOUT the frame showing. Acceptance can be based on the quality of a photo. Take care to ensure that your image accurately reflects the color and detail of your art.
  • Images are required to be 1,200 pixels or greater on the longest side and under 5MB.
  • For miniatures, small paintings, and small artisan works: one image per artwork.

AWARDS

More than $12,000 in cash awards will be presented at the Gallery Arts Awards Reception on the Monday before the Festival. For the first time, both miniatures and small paintings will be eligible for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes in each category.

SHIPPING OPTION

If artists are unable to deliver their artwork in person on Saturday, June 7, there is a shipping option available through Phoenix Art Restoration for a fee. Acceptance letters will contain complete shipping information.

Do not send artwork to Frances Anderson Center - it will not be accepted.

Application Requirements

IMPORTANT! There are two Call for Artists to facilitate ease of entry. Please read carefully to ensure you enter the correct call for your art. THIS APPLICATION IS FOR CALL 2. Call 2 is for artists applying in Miniatures, Small Paintings, and Small Artisan Works.

  • Artists must be 16 years or older.
  • All entries must be for sale.
  • A 35% commission will be collected on all sales. Please consider your prices carefully as they will not be changed onsite during the Festival. Be sure to factor in the commission, material and framing costs before setting your price.
  • All entries must be original and entirely the work of the artist.
  • No copies, derivatives, reproductions, giclées, or AI generated art. Work cannot be based on copyrighted or previously published materials.
  • Entries must have been produced within the last five years.
  • Work must not have been previously shown at the Edmonds Arts Festival.
  • Artists may not substitute or alter the work, title, or price after it has been accepted.
  • Digital images of selected work will be retained by the Edmonds Arts Festival. EAF assumes permission to reproduce accepted artwork for promotional uses.
  • The Artist agrees to indemnify and hold the Edmonds Arts Festival harmless from all claims, losses and liabilities by any person or entities arising from this Agreement to the extent caused by negligent acts of the Artist or the Artist's breach of this Agreement.
  • This show is open to regional artists from Washington, Oregon, Montana, Idaho, and California ONLY.
