Call Description

The 528.0 Regional Print Exhibit: Futures is sponsored by Mo’Print and the Center for Visual Art, Metropolitan State University of Denver, and will be hosted at the Center for Visual Art (CVA) in Denver’s Arts District on Santa Fe in conjunction with Denver’s Month Of Printmaking (March 2026). The number 5,280 refers to Denver’s status as the Mile High City.

This juried exhibition invites printmakers to delve into the multifaceted concept of the future. This exhibition will feature prints that reflect diverse views on what lies ahead, ranging from hopeful visions to cautionary tales. Amidst the uncertainty of pending changes, the prints explore and communicate unique perspectives on the possibilities of tomorrow. Through their prints, the participating artists will highlight the inevitable role of art in shaping and reflecting our collective future.

The 528.0 Regional Juried Print Exhibit: Futures is open to artists residing within a 528.0 mile radius of Denver, Colorado.

Call for Entry deadline: SUNDAY, OCTOBER 12, 2025 11:59 p.m. Mountain Standard Time (late entries will not be considered)

Email notification: by Saturday, November 1, 2025

Hand-delivered artwork: December 2-6, Tuesday-Friday 11am - 5pm, additional drop-off times can be arranged prior to December 2nd upon request.

Shipped artwork deadline: Friday, December 5, 2025

Exhibit opens: Friday, January 2, 2026

Opening Reception: Friday, January 9, 2026 6pm-8pm, Free and open to the public

Work returned to artists via pickup or shipping: Week of March 23, 2026

Delivery and Return of Accepted Work:
1. Shipped work should arrive no later than December 5th, 2025. Ship work in sturdy, reusable crates or cartons. Work will be returned in the container and materials in which it arrived. Mo’Print will pay the cost of return shipping. 
2. Artwork may be hand-delivered December 2 - 6, Tuesday-Friday 11am - 5pm, Saturday 12 - 2:30pm.
3. CVA provides insurance for artworks while on premises.
4. CVA and Mo’Print are not responsible for damage or loss during transport.
5. Artwork must arrive ready for installation with instructions for any special installation requirements.

Sales of Artwork:
1. If artwork is sold, artists will receive payment after the close of the exhibition and upon the completion of payment paperwork.

2. Artworks may be for sale during the exhibition. Artists will receive 70% of sale proceeds. CVA will retain 30% of sales.

3. Artwork does not need to be for sale to be selected for the exhibition.

Agreement:
Submission to this exhibition constitutes an agreement on the part of the entrant to the conditions set forth in this prospectus and the conditions of the Loan Agreement Form from CVA. Submitting an application and application fee in no way guarantees acceptance into the exhibition. CVA reserves the right to final curatorial, educational, and installation decisions. The CVA and Mo’Print may use your image(s) for marketing and catalog purposes, and will credit the artist in that case.

The CVA reserves the right to all final curatorial, educational, and promotional decisions, and reserves the right not to exhibit any piece that is not faithfully represented in its application, arrives damaged, is not properly prepared for exhibition, or is deemed too fragile for effective display.

Jurors

Cecily Cullen is a creative professional and an advocate for artists. As director and curator of the Metropolitan State University of Denver Center for Visual Art, she develops exhibitions and programs to engage the public in examination of global issues. She collaborates with artists in activating dialogue in an environment that encourages learning for both visitors and the student staff. Cecily has curated or organized over 125 contemporary exhibitions that give voice to artists from diverse perspectives and backgrounds. She has been guest juror for numerous exhibitions and public art projects, is an advisor for the Colorado Attorneys for the Arts and has recently served as chair of the Colorado Committee for the National Museum of Women in the Arts. She is a recipient of the Cultural Leadership Award from the Colorado Business Committee for the Arts. 

Rick Griffith is a British-West-Indian designer, letterpress printer, collagist, writer, and optimist futurist. Based in Denver, Colorado. A juror for the Smithsonian National Design Awards, 2-time programming chair for the AIGA National Conference. His works can be found in the permanent collections of The Denver Art Museum, The Hamilton Wood Type and Printing Museum, Columbia University's Butler Library of Rare Books and Manuscripts, The Poster House Museum, NY, The Letterform Archive, and The Tweed Museum at the University of Minnesota, Duluth.

He is a founder and partner with Debra Johnson of the ambidextrous graphic design consultancy MATTER, the designer behind the Black Astronaut Research ProjectThe Pledge for Spaces, and the Introductory Ethic for Designers and Other Thinking Persons. He DJs a live Internet Radio show Design To Kill Tuesdays at 4 pm Mountain Time. Playing Punk, Post Punk, and other non-conforming music.

Chinn Wang (pronunciation: Cheen Wong) is a printmedia artist exploring themes of erasure, lineage, and superstition, in addition to complex transitions in desire, chance, and mortality. She earned her MFA from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and a dual BA in Art Practice and Art History from the University of California, Berkeley. Her works have been exhibited nationally and internationally at The Print Center, Philadelphia, The Denver Art Museum, and The Korean Cultural Center in Beijing, China, and in cities including Chicago, San Francisco, and Berlin among others. Wang is a Teaching Professor and Foundations Coordinator in the School of Art & Art History at the University of Denver and lives in Boulder, Colorado.

Application Requirements

Submission Guidelines: 

 1. Non-refundable entry fee of $35 for up to 3 pieces. Limited entrance fee scholarships are available for artists who are experiencing economic hardship, for artists who identify as Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC), and for artists who identify as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community. 2. Images may be JPG files only. New media files must fit requirements set by Call For Entry.
3. Crop images to exclude framing and background.
4. Images must represent the work exactly.                 5. Each artist selected will be required to fill out CVA’s loan agreement form.

Artwork Requirements:

1. Submissions must utilize a form of traditional hand printed media as their primary technique, but they may include digital output elements within the greater work. Artwork submissions may include but are not limited to: monoprint, monotype, screen print, intaglio, photopolymer, photogravure, collagraph, stone or plate lithography, woodcut, linocut, steamroller, letterpress, and book-arts.

Book-arts submissions must contain printed artworks and cannot be blank journals or inkjet-based text blocks.

Any oversized or steamroller prints accepted will require installation instructions provided by the artist.

We encourage you to submit Installation, mixed media, and new media works if the artwork includes the use of hand-pulled prints and is accompanied by detailed presentation/installation instructions and images within your application. The Center for Visual Art has a limited number of projectors, media players, and TV screens. Please describe how best your new media work would be displayed. If you would like to provide equipment, that is also an option.

There are no minimum or maximum size limitations for submission.

2. Finished artworks that are composed solely of inkjet, risograph, photocopy, laser engraving, or giclée reproductions will not be accepted.

3. Any artwork not conforming to the selected conditions set forth will be disqualified.

1. Applicants must reside within the circle that extends approximately 528.0 miles out from Denver, Colorado. For the purposes of this exhibit it will include the entire states of Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, Wyoming, Utah, and New Mexico. In addition, Northwest Arizona including Flagstaff; Northwest Texas including Amarillo, Lubbock, and Wichita Falls; Oklahoma west of Tulsa; the southwest quarter of North Dakota including Bismarck and Dickinson; Southeastern Montana including Bozeman and Billings (not Missoula or Butte); Southeastern Idaho including Idaho Falls and Pocatello; and Iowa including Sioux City and Council Bluffs. 2. Open to artists over age 18.
