Highlights and Shadows invites artists of all levels from around the world to submit their work for the inaugural open call organized by one of Chicago's most innovative and emerging art galleries, located in the heart of the city. We are seeking a diverse range of works in photography, painting, sculpture, and AI art that explore the interplay of light and dark, contrast and depth, and the unseen elements that shape our world.

This is an exciting opportunity to showcase your work in a dynamic exhibition in the heart of Chicago. Whether you're an established artist or just starting, we encourage you to submit and be part of this unique, thought-provoking event.

Rewards:
Three selected artists will be featured in a group show dedicated exclusively to them in Fall 2026, giving them further exposure and the opportunity to showcase a deeper body of work.

Important Details:

• Artists are responsible for artwork shipping costs.
• Signing the artwork with the gallery until sold is an option, saving transport costs for return shipping.
• Photography submissions will be printed and framed at the exhibition location.

Application Requirements

Work Sample Requirements:

• Artists can submit 1-8 pieces for consideration.
• Optional: Artists may submit video or audio files that help provide context for their work.
• Optional: Artists may include a CV or artist statement.

Eligibility Criteria

• Artists must be 18 years or older.
• Artists must complete the application through the CAFE platform.
• Artists must be able to ship their work to the exhibition location - Chicago
