Call Description

Arcana: Painting the Fates features artistic interpretations of the classic major and minor arcana of tarot. The visual imagery of Tarot has been an inspiration for many people throughout the years, and in this show we welcome artists to submit their their portfolio and if chosen, create a custom tarot piece for our show, or show off your existing tarot work! Whether you draw a moon, a tower, a pentacle, or a sword, we look forward to seeing what fate you choose to bring. This show will run concurrently with the Valkarie Resident Artists Laura Garabedian and Colleen Tully's respective solo shows. No digital art or art using AI as any part of it's process is allowed in this show. Art must be able to to hang on a wall and be under 18"x24".

SELECTION

Submissions will be juried by Valkarie Resident Laura Garabedian, Colorado Artist and Illustrator.

DEADLINE

Entry deadline is midnight, (MST) March 28th, 2025. 

No late applications will be considered.

NOTIFICATION

Artists will be notified by Tuesday, April 1st, 2025. 

EXHIBITION DATES

June 12th - July 6th, 2025.

Opening Reception 

Saturday, June 14th, 2025 5-8:30pm

Closing Reception & Artwork pickup 

Sunday, July 6th, 2025 

FEES

Submissions will only be accepted through Callforentry.org (www.callforentry.org).  Entries and credit card payment must be submitted on or before the posted deadline March 28th, 2025, with no entries accepted after this date.

Entry fees must be paid through callforentry.org 

Entry fee: submit 3-5 original pieces for portfolio review for $30. 

Fees are non-refundable and do not guarantee acceptance into the show.

Sold artwork will incur a 30% commission. Prices quoted on the entry form may not be changed after acceptance. Buyer will be charged sales tax for Lakewood area and buyer will be charged any applicable shipping fees.

Purchased artwork must remain in the gallery until the exhibition closes.

Artists will be notified by email of any sales, and will receive payment for any sold works within one month of the close of the exhibition.

Accepted art shipping information:

If you are shipping your art it must be received by June 1st. If you are accepted the shipping address will be included in your welcome email. It is in Longmont, Colorado 80503 if you would like to run an estimate on costs. All art that is shipped (or dropped off needs return shipping information) and  must have a pre-paid return shipping label enclosed in the package.

Valkarie Gallery is not responsible for unclaimed ART after The Tarot Card Show closes.

All accepted work, whether shipped or dropped off must be protected i.e. bubble wrap, plastic and include artist's name and title of art to match emailed information provided.

Valkarie Gallery is not responsible for unprotected damaged art.

Application Requirements

Upload requirements for image files:

• File format: JPEG only
• File dimensions: No smaller than 1920 pixels on the longest side
• File resolution: 72 ppi/dpi (standard web resolution)
• File size: 5 MB maximum
• Image must be correctly oriented (vertical or horizontal)
• No digital enhancement is allowed
• Maximum of 5 photos per application fee.

Eligibility Criteria

• Arcana: Painting the Fates is open to anyone in the world
• All artwork must be original in concept and not copied from another artist's work.
• No AI Art will be accepted.
• Only entries submitted online through callforentry.org will be considered.
• Size limitation: 18” x  24” maximum size
• Art must be shipped with a return shipping label in the box.
