Call Description

The Downtown Adrian Main Street in Adrian, Michigan is seeking an artist or graphic designer to create an inaugural mural for Downtown Adrian. The concept of the mural would be a traditional postcard type of mural that will celebrate the history and uniqueness of Adrian. The approximate size of the mural will be up to 50 feet wide by 20 feet tall. The final submission will be a digital file that will be printed on high quality vinyl for an exterior application. The mural is expected to last for at least 5 years. The artist/designer that is selected for the commission will receive $3,000 for their work. The budget amount is only for the artist/designer. There is a separate budget for the creation and installation of the vinyl.

This mural will be the cornerstone of a public space project that is taking place this summer. The mural will also be initial mural in a program that will expand public art through our Historic Downtown. 

Application Requirements

All applications must be submitted through CAFÉ. Applications that do not meet requirements and are not submitted through CAFÉ will not be accepted. The artist must submit the following as part of the application:

1.       Artist Statement- must explain the proposed design

2.       Proposed Digital Design Sketch.

Eligibility Criteria

The project is open to all professional artists nationwide. Applicants must have experience in similar projects.
