The Arroscia Residency an artist run, 501(c)(3), non-profit corporation open to all emerging and mid-career artists who’s focus is on one or more of the following disciplines: painting, sculpture, drawing, collage, fiber art, photography, installations, and/or mixed media work.

The award consists of a grant for:

  • Roundtrip flights from the closest airport of the artist’s hometown to Europe and back (cost of flights will be reimbursed upon arrival).
  • Paid housing for the duration of the residency.
  • Use of studio and exhibition space..
  • An exhibition of the artist’s work created during the residency.
  • A dedicated page on the Residency website.
  • A stipend of €300 per week for art supplies and living expenses.

Application Requirements

Each application must include:

  • Completed application form.
  • $25USD application fee.
  • For EU applicants provide a photocopy of your identification card. For non-EU applicants provide a photocopy of your valid passport.
  • Photo copy (or digital image) of your valid passport.
  • Curriculum Vitae (4 pages maximum).
  • Digital portfolio of 10 pieces.
  • Two professional references.
  • All documents should be typed in at least a 12 point font, single­ spaced, and with at least a 1⁄2” margin.
    Applications that are not complete by their due date will not be considered.

Eligibility Criteria

Some of the criteria that will be considered in the review process are:

  • Artist creates Sculpture, Painting, Drawing, Collage, Fiber Art,  Photography, Installations, and/or Mixed Media work;
  • How the applicant thinks a small mountain village in the Arroscia Valley will serve to inspire and contribute to their creativity and work;
  • The applicant’s standing in their career and among their peers;
  • The applicant’s ability to work independently and to live in a small rural community;
  • The applicant’s ability to represent the residency program well; and
  • The applicant’s ability to speak Italian, Spanish and/or English.
