About 

We seek to lure those who delve into the weird and unknown crevices of their boundless imagination to bring forth a viewing spectacle that is oddly attractive. Those unafraid to portray the bizarre, counterculture truths hiding in the shadows of plain sight are encouraged to submit. We welcome all mediums of 2D and 3D art that are meant to challenge the viewer's mind, and cause a stir of wonder and intrigue to the precipice of delirium. This call will showcase unusual sights from bright artists who are unashamed of their discontentment of the status quo. Conformity is not welcomed, for we wish to celebrate the timeless absurdity of Surrealism from contemporary artists, worldwide. Welcome to The Surreal Spectacle. 

DETAILS

- All 2D, hanging artwork should not exceed 30” on its longest side, or an additional fee will incur if selected to participate.  

- Sculptures must not be larger than 16” high x 8” wide x 8” deep, and must not exceed 35 lbs in weight.

- Artworks will be judged only by their quality, originality, intrigue, and relevance to this call. 

- Art Scene West will remit 60% of the sales commission to the artist and withhold 40% for gallery expenses. 

- Artists selected for the exhibition will have their biographies and artwork images published and promoted through our social media handles and website.

- The in-gallery exhibition will be live from April 1st - May 27th, 2025.

FEES

There is a $25 submission fee to thoroughly review the artist's work and biography. For artists who are selected into the exhibition, the participation fee is $75, which is paid on a secure portal at our website. This helps cover the costs of promoting the exhibition, handling and curating the artwork inside the gallery, and uploading the artists’ content onto our website and social media channels. Artists are responsible for shipping and return-shipping fees to and from the gallery. 

TIMELINE

1. Submission deadline: March 19th, 2025
2. Selected artists will be notified between March 20th and March 23rd.
3. Last Day for Artists to pay the participation fee is March 24th.
4. Artwork should be delivered to Art Scene West by April 4th.
5. The opening reception at the gallery is on Saturday, April 5th, 2025.
6. Unsold artwork can be retrieved or will be sent back beginning May 28th.

ARTWORK SUBMISSION IMAGE REQUIREMENTS

Artists are encouraged to send images that will best represent the quality of their artwork to both the Art Scene West curators and its patrons. The images submitted for review will be the same used on the Art Scene West website if selected. 

• Maximum 4 images of the artwork(s).
• Only clear and accurate images of an artwork will be considered.
