Northwind Art is pleased to be hosting an Art Auction at its annual fundraising gala! The gala on June 28 is our largest fundraising event of the year, and the Art Auction will be key to helping raise essential funds to help us meet our mission of empowering meaningful connections through visual art, cultivating creativity, and growing artists. The Art Auction helps to make it possible for us to provide enriching experiences to our community at Northwind Art School, Jeanette Best Gallery, and via our Art Around Town program.
This application is for artists to apply to have their original artwork in the Northwind Art Auction. A total of 50 pieces of artwork will be selected by the jury process. If your original artwork is selected you will have the option of donating all of the proceeds of the sale to Northwind Art, or of receiving 50% of the selling price (with the remainder of the proceeds going to Northwind Art).
A local professional artist or artists will be the juror(s) for our Art Auction. The juror will make the final selection of 50 works to include in our silent and live auctions. The juror will be looking at craftsmanship, composition and scale, color choices, texture, and wide variety of content (both objective and non-objective). Emphasis will be on artwork that has the best possible chance of selling at auction. Since we are limited to 50 pieces, the focus will be on selecting pieces our community will most want to bid on!
Any two- or three-dimensional art will be considered, including jewelry, as long as it meets the size specifications (listed below).
If you are interested in applying to have a piece of artwork considered for this year’s Art Auction:
- Submit a JPEG or or JPG, under 5MB with a minimum of 1200 pixels on the longest side. When you submit your photo, be sure to submit the information that includes title, dimension, price, and year completed.
- Make sure any two-dimensional work is smaller than 60” in height and 48” in width, including the frame.
- For the auction, all work must be professionally presented (framed, matted, wired, etc.) and ready for display.
- Proceeds: artists can choose to receive 50% of the auction selling price, or they can donate 100% of the proceeds to Northwind Art.
- Reserve Price: No reserve prices will be set on selected artworks for either the silent or live auctions.
Notifications of the juror’s official results will be sent to all artists who submitted an application on May 9, 2025. Notifications are sent from the CaFE platform, please be sure to check your spam or junk folder and add the address to your inbox. If your work is selected, you will be asked for a high quality photo (at least 300 dpi) that can be used in the auction catalog and for promotional purposes.
Delivery of Artwork: Artists must deliver auction artworks to Northwind Art between June 2 - 8, 2025. IMPORTANT: Please do not bring artwork to Northwind Art until your scheduled time.
If a selected artwork does not sell at auction, you will be notified via email within 30 days following the auction to coordinate with Northwind Art the return of unsold artwork.
