Call Description

Call for Art: Photography for the One Stop Facility, Sioux Falls, SD 

The Washington Pavilion Management, Inc. (WPMI) is seeking submissions from photographers for an exciting opportunity to have their work featured in the new One Stop Facility in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. This project, in collaboration with the State of South Dakota and its government agencies, aims to curate a collection of high-quality photographic artwork that reflects the beauty, culture, and character of our state. 

Project Details 

We are accepting photographic artwork that will be traditionally printed and framed. 

Selected photographers will receive $300 per digital file for their work. Paid by WPMI.  

Printing and framing will be handled by WPMI to ensure a consistent and professional presentation. 

WPMI will oversee delivery and installation of the artwork at the One Stop Facility. 

This is a one-time licensing purchase — Artists retain full copyright. 

Artistic Theme  

Submitted photography should reflect an uplifting, compassionate, and hopeful feeling. 

Submitted photography may reflect South Dakota’s landscapes, culture, history, or community. 

Key words and phrases from the selection committee: 

-South Dakota is full of potential 

-Images could reflect open spaces and breathtaking nature 

-Images of iconic South Dakota locations and landmarks 

-Images should reflect our diverse population 

-For some visitors, the circumstances bringing them to the One Stop facility might stir feelings of intimidation or shame. We're seeking artwork that can transform the space into a warm, welcoming, empowering, and joyful environment, uplifting everyone who walks through its doors.

-Images should be in keeping with the mission of the Department of Social Services, which is “dedicated to strengthening families to foster health, wellbeing, and independence." 

Submission Guidelines  

We will prioritize Photographers with ties to South Dakota, but the call is open to photographers everywhere.  

Artists may submit up to 20 images. 

Technical Specifications 

File Format: JPEG or JPG 

Minimum Dimensions: 1,200 pixels on the longest side 

Recommended Dimensions: 1,920 pixels or greater 

File Size: Under 5 MB 

Resolution: Between 72–300 PPI 

Color Space: sRGB (recommended) 

Images should be clear, well-lit, and free of watermarks or distracting backgrounds. 
Artists are encouraged to include a brief description or statement for each image submitted. 

Selection Process 

Artwork will be reviewed by WPMI and key stakeholders from the State of South Dakota. 

Selections will be based on artistic quality, relevance to theme, and appropriateness for a professional government space. 

Artists whose work is selected will be notified via email by May 12, 2025.
