About The Juror
Jon Flaming, Artist
Jon Flaming (pronounced Fleming) is a multi-disciplinary artist known for his design, illustration, modern interpretations of cowboys and cowgirls, often depicting them in a heroic light. His fine art focuses on small-town Texas and the Southwest, reflecting the idiom of Texas regionalism. Flaming's work brings warm recollections of earlier, simpler roots, while simultaneously magnifying awareness of social change and transformation underway in Texas. Jon’s modern interpretation of the Western art genre has earned him a loyal following of fans and collectors. Stetson, Tecovas, YETI, the John Wayne family and others have collaborated with Jon to promote their brands. Jon’s work resides in the permanent collections of the Amon Carter Museum of Art, Tyler Museum of Art, Museum of the Southwest, San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts and The Grace Museum. This September, Jon will once again be part of the prestigious invitational FarWest Show in Austin hosted by Mark Maggiori and Petecia Le Fawnhawk.

About the Edmund Craig Memorial Award
The Edmund Craig Gallery, founded in 1998 by Stan Edmund Sewell and Kenneth Craig Johnson, was a Fort Worth art gallery that showcased their shared passion for the arts. The gallery featured an extensive collection of work by local, national, and international artists, spanning a diverse range of mediums. While deeply rooted in their Fort Worth community, Stan and Kenn made the decision to close the gallery and pursue new opportunities in Santa Fe, New Mexico. There, they enjoyed a peaceful retirement in their home adorned with art they’d collected over the years. They remained forever connected to Fort Worth through their love of TCU and TCU sports, which they tuned into at every possible chance.
Following their passing in 2021 and 2022, their daughter, Katie Crim and Jordan Snapka, have continued to advocate for the arts in their honor. The Texas Juried Exhibition reflects the values shared by Katie and her late fathers—celebrating artistic diversity and fostering inspiration across all creative disciplines.
The recipient of the Edmund Craig Memorial Award will receive $10,000 and an opportunity to exhibit at Artspace111 in a separate solo or group exhibition in 2026.
