The City of Redmond's Commission for Art in Public Places (RCAPP) invites artists/artist teams to submit proposals to install a painted mural in downtown Redmond. The mural will be located at 224 SW 6th Street, Redmond, OR 97756. The mural must be on the 6th Street façade, but the artist may choose to extend the mural to the Black Butte façade.

The project budget is inclusive of all project phases and artist needs, including the purchase of materials, preparation of the site, travel, lodging, insurance, and anything else needed for the mural installation. If the mural is solely on 6th Street, the total amount of the project budget will be $18,000. If the mural is on both 6th Street and Black Butte, the total project amount will be $25,000.

Proposals are due by 11:59 pm on June 22, 2025. The selected finalist will be notified by July 1st, 2025, and installation will be required no later than September 15, 2025.

Application Requirements

Selection Process and Criteria:

RCAPP commissioners and City staff will evaluate all artists/artist teams based on overall strength of design concept.

Note: Murals should be based on one or more of the following themes: natural beauty, history, regional commerce, local agriculture, local landscape or other relevant themes to the City of Redmond.

Submission Requirements:

Applications must provide all of the following information in order to be considered. Complete applications are required to provide all of the following information:

1.      Contact information: Applicant’s name, phone number, email address, and mailing address. If applying as a team, identify a primary contact and include that person’s contact information.

2.      Mural Design: Please submit a proposed design for the mural, and indicate which façade/s your design covers. Including color may help RCAPP to accurately review the piece but is not required. Note: Murals should be based on one or more of the following themes: natural beauty, history, regional commerce, local agriculture, local landscape or other relevant themes to the City of Redmond.

3.      Narrative/Description of Piece: Provide a written statement of where your inspiration came from for this piece and what this piece means to you.
