Call Description

Mark Arts is pleased to present the Wichita National All Craft Media Exhibition, a historic show featuring diverse works by artists across the country.  Founded in 1945, the exhibition celebrates both traditional and innovative techniques using the discipline of craft media to communicate the artist’s vision. The exhibition will take place from October 9-December 13, 2025, in the Gladys & Karl T. Wiedemann Gallery at Mark Arts. Artists are encouraged to enter artwork in any traditional or non-traditional craft media. The juror for the show will be Catherine Futter, Curatorial Chair and Senior Curator of Decorative Arts and Design at the Brooklyn Museum.

AWARDS

Mark Arts is proud to offer enticing cash awards to attract leading artists from across the country. $3,000 in Cash Awards will be awarded, including $1,500 for first place. 

JUROR | CATHERINE FUTTER

Catherine Futter is a dynamic curator with a specialization in American and European Decorative Arts and Design. She is currently a Curatorial Chair and Senior Curator of Decorative Arts and Design at the Brooklyn Museum where she has curated collection installations, featured exhibitions, and secured hundreds of gifts for the Museum. She previously served as the Director of Curatorial Affairs and Louis L. and Adelaide C. Ward Senior Curator of European Arts at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. Futter holds a bachelor’s degree in Medieval and Renaissance studies from Duke University. She earned a doctorate from Yale University.

JUDGING

All entries will be judged from digital images submitted through CaFE Entry. If upon delivery, an accepted artwork is found to have been misrepresented it may be disqualified. Award winners will be selected by the juror and all decisions are final.

Saturday, September 13: Deadline for receipt of shipped artwork

Thursday, October 9: Opening Reception from 5:30-7:30 p.m. with remarks
Saturday, December 13: Exhibition concludes

Wednesday, December 17: Hand-delivered artwork picked up

Friday, January 2: Shipped artwork returned

 CATALOG

Mark Arts publishes an illustrated catalog with all accepted entries. A complimentary copy will be mailed to each accepted artist at the conclusion of the exhibition.

Application Requirements

MEDIA LIMITATIONS

Artists are encouraged to enter artwork in any traditional or non-traditional craft media. The exhibition is open, but is not limited, to the following: ceramics, enamels, fiber, furniture, glass, jewelry, metalsmithing, paper, wood, and mixed media. Both 2D and 3D works are welcome.

 Video, new media, and work generated through artificial intelligence will not be accepted, nor will artwork that must hang from the ceiling due to gallery limitations. Weight limit is 50 pounds. All artwork must be able to be reasonably handled by Mark Arts staff. 

 All artworks must be display-ready with display hardware included. Artwork should promote an environment conducive to welcoming all audiences to Mark Arts, including school tours and community outreach programs.

 

Eligibility Criteria

ELIGIBILITY

Mark Arts encourages artists of diverse backgrounds and perspectives to submit work for consideration. The exhibition is open to all artists living and working in the United States, both amateur and professional. Work must be ready to exhibit, created in the past two years, and not previously exhibited in Wichita, KS. Each artist may enter up to four pieces. Artwork should promote an environment conducive to welcoming all audiences to Mark Arts, including school tours and community outreach programs. All artworks must be for sale.
