Call Description

Juror:

Mary Weaver Chapin, PhD is the Curator of Prints and Drawings at the Portland Art Museum, where she oversees a large and varied collection of more than 20,000 prints, posters, and artists’ books that date from the 15th century to the present. She has curated dozens of exhibitions over her career on artists and themes as diverse as Albrecht Dürer; Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec; Corita Kent; psychedelic rock posters; and rising contemporary stars. She is the author of the catalogue raisonné of the prints of Warrington Colescott (1921-2018) In 2013 she founded the Portland Fine Print Fair to encourage the community to collect prints. She is the president of Print Council of America, and lectures widely on print topics across the country.

Eligibility:

Open to all artists 18 and older. Emerging artists are strongly encouraged to enter. Submissions must be original works on paper, created within the last two years. Acceptable media include, but are not limited to, photography, drawings, digital media, and printmaking processes (intaglio, lithographic, photographic, relief, serigraphic and monotypes). Reproductions of pre-existing works of art are not eligible.

Entry Process:

Entries will be submitted on the CaFÉ™ website (https://www.callforentry.org). To prepare your images for submission, please follow these specifications: minimum of 1200 pixels on the longest side, saved in JPEG or JPG format. Note: file size should not exceed 5 MB.

Entry fee:

A $30 (nonrefundable) entry fee permits each artist to submit up to three images. Credit card payments are accepted using the CaFE” website. Entries will be marked complete upon receipt of payment.

Notification:

Results of the selection process will be emailed to all entrants the week of July 7 – July 11, 2025. Each work selected for inclusion in the exhibition must be received by The Alexandre Hogue Gallery at the School of Art, Design & Art History no later than August 8, 2025.

Exhibition:

The exhibition will take place 9/4/2025 – 10/16/2025, at the Alexandre Hogue Gallery at the University of Tulsa. Accepted artworks required to remain in the Alexandre Hogue Gallery for the duration of the exhibition.

Awards:

2 Juror’s Merit Awards of $500 each will be awarded and announced at the opening of the exhibition on September 4, 2025. Each artist receiving an award will have their artist’s statement of 100 words or less printed in the exhibition catalog.

Display / Presentation:

DO NOT SEND FRAMED WORK!

Each selected work will be framed by the School of Art, Design & Art History for display during the exhibition. In order to ensure that your print will fit into one of our frames, each print must arrive matted and/ or mounted, horizontal or vertical, in a 16 x 20, 18 x 24, 20 x 24, or 24 x 32 inch white or off-white mat. If your print is not matted or mounted, it cannot be displayed.

  • Shipped works must be received by August 8, 2025.
  • Hand delivered work will be accepted August 6th and 7th, 1:00 – 5:00pm
  • C.O.D. deliveries will not be accepted.
  • Late or damaged shipments will be returned collect.
  • Works must be shipped in reusable packing cartons.
  • NO PACKING POPCORN OR PEANUTS!

Images and Catalog:

Each artist may submit up to three prints, represented in a digital format (jpeg preferred) with a resolution of 300 dpi at 4 x 5 inches or 1200 x 1500 pixels. The digital files must be print quality as all works selected for exhibition will be reproduced in a full-color catalog. By entering this exhibition each artist grants consent for the use of submitted images for reproduction in the catalog, for publicity and for educational purposes. Images without an artist’s signature are preferred.

Sales:

The sale of prints in the exhibition will be promoted, with no commission taken. In the event a patron expresses an interest in purchasing a work in the exhibition, the Director of the School of Art will contact the artist and get them in touch with the patron.

Return of Accepted Work:

Artwork will be repacked and shipped in the container it was sent in. Costs of returning shipped work to artists will be covered by the University of Tulsa.

  • Return of shipped work will begin on October 18, 2025
  • Hand delivered work pick up: October 18, 2025, from 8:30 – 4:30
