SECOND ANNUAL
SOUTH SEATTLE LOVE 

 

The Seattle Light Room is excited to announce the return of our juried group show: South Seattle Love. After an incredible response last year, we’re once again calling on photographers to share their vision of love for Seattle’s South End - Rainier Beach, Seward Park, Columbia City, Hillman City and beyond.

We want to see your South End Love. Submit your photographs that capture the spirit, emotion, and essence of South Seattle. Your work doesn’t have to be a literal depiction of a location -abstract, symbolic, or emotionally driven images that reflect your connection to the South End are also welcome. Think of what the place feels like, not just how it looks.

Selected images will be featured in a group exhibition at The Seattle Light Room gallery.

• Eligibility: All ages encouraged to apply.
• Notification of Selection: Aug 4th, 2025
• Opening Reception: Fri Sep 5 6-8pm
• Exhibition Dates: Sep 4 - 27

This is a community-centered show, and we welcome submissions from photographers of all experience levels who have a connection to South Seattle. Whether you’re documenting daily life, crafting a visual metaphor, or responding to a personal memory, we want to see what South Seattle love looks like through your lens.

Eligibility for South Seattle Love 2025

The competition is open to all artists. All work submitted must be original work created and owned by the submitting photographer. Images need to be taken in South Seattle. You will need to specify the location of the image during submission.

This call is open to all forms and categories of photography with the exception of AI-generated work. 

Exhibition ready requires: 

All selected images must be delivered to The Seattle Light Room exhibition-ready.

• No watermarks or logos on the printed images.
• Frames should be simple; no ornate or brightly colored frames.
• If matted, please use white or natural museum board; no colored mats.
• No saw-toothed hangers; use framing wire.
• Frame size is limited to 24 inches on the longest side

The Seattle Light Room reserves the right to exclude submitted artwork that does not meet the above criteria.

Artist is responsible for delivering the finished piece to The Seattle Light Room.

Exhibition

South Seattle Love images will be hung in The Seattle Light Room’s gallery from September 4 - 27, 2025, with an opening reception on Friday, September 5th from 6-8. Artists are required to be at the opening. If you are not available, please discuss with The Seattle Light Room.

Liability
Selected Artists will be required to sign a limited liability agreement.

Conditions and Sales
Sales will be encouraged. The Seattle Light Room will retain a 30% commission on all images sold.

All copyrights remain with the photographers.

Application Requirements

All images submitted should be representative of the South End of Seattle. 

Eligibility Criteria

All artists are eligible to apply. If applicant is under 18, parental consent will be required in order to participate.
