Call Description

Form of Movement is a juried exhibition seeking two-dimensional, wall-hanging artwork that investigates the concept of motion in all its forms. Artists are encouraged to interpret “movement” broadly—whether through the depiction of the human figure in action, the expressive sweep of a mark or brushstroke, or the illusion of movement created through rhythm, pattern, or spatial tension.

This theme also invites conceptual and symbolic interpretations—how social, political, or emotional movements are expressed visually; how change, momentum, or energy is captured through line, texture, or form. It may reflect physical energy, the fluidity of a medium across the surface, the choreography of forms within a composition, or the emotional or psychological implications of movement and change. From narrative to non-objective work, the exhibition aims to showcase how artists capture, suggest, or respond to movement through art. Whether through subtle gesture or bold action, Form of Movement is an invitation to reflect on how art itself can be an act of movement—shifting perspectives, stirring emotion, and transforming space.

Submission Criteria:

Entries will only be accepted through the CaFE online system.

Open to original 2D wall-hanging works only. All mediums within that format—including photography, painting, collage, fiber/textile, mixed media, and printed works for which the artist's hand manipulated the plates, stones, or screens and which have been properly signed and numbered as a limited edition will be accepted—are eligible. No open-ended or poster prints. Giclée prints are not permitted.

Artwork must be of original design, by personal execution, and not previously shown at Bitfactory Gallery.

Submissions must include the following:

The maximum size for two-dimensional work is 60 X 60 inches, not including frame.

The entry fee is $35 for 3 images. Additional images may be submitted. The cost is $5.00 per additional image up to 10 images in total. This may be any two-dimensional work.

Works submitted must be ready for installation upon arrival at Bitfactory Gallery. All artwork must be wired and ready to hang. NO sawtooth, D-loop, hook type hangers, etc.

Any works submitted or delivered that are not deemed ready for installation will not be hung.

Any wall hanging artwork must weigh less than 35 pounds.

Unframed artwork edges must be finished. No staples. Canvas or cradled substrates may be no less than 1 3/8" deep.

Commission & Payment:

All work must be available for sale.

Bitfactory Gallery will retain a 50% commission on sales.

Artists will be paid for any sales within 31 days of the exhibition closing.

DO NOT require a signature for delivery.

Shipped artwork must arrive at the above address on or before Tuesday, July 29, 2025. Late artwork will not be hung. Please plan accordingly.

Artists are responsible for round-trip shipping charges and shipping insurance.

All shipments must include a prepaid return-shipping label and be shipped in a container appropriate for re-use in return shipping. NO packing peanuts will be accepted.

Artwork can be shipped to an agent of your choice who will then hand-deliver the artwork to Bitfactory Gallery. Any fees will be handled between the artist and agent.

No late deliveries will be accepted.

Intake for hand delivery artwork to Bitfactory Gallery will occur on Saturday, July 26, 2025, 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Artwork pick up:

All unsold artwork can be picked up from Bitfactory Gallery on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.

Any work left at Bitfactory Gallery more than 2 days after the close of the exhibition will be subject to a $10 per day storage fee payable prior to artwork being released.

Any work left at Bitfactory Gallery for more than two weeks after the close of the exhibition will be considered abandoned and will be subject to sale or disposal without notification.

Eligibility Criteria

This is a National Call for Entries inviting artists from all regions and states. Artists must be 18 years of age or older and current residents of the United States and/or its territories.
