Call Description
Residency will include:
- Luxury accommodations for (14) nights
- (12) breakfasts (Monday - Saturday)
- Studio space for you to be creative and inspired
- Full access to pool, jacuzzi and gym equipment
- (4) excursions that are Dia de Muertos focused
- (2) handmade craft workshops with regional artisans
- Multiple parades over several days in Ajijic
- Trick-Or-Treating with neighborhood kids
- Dia de Muertos catrina face painting
- Creation of a collaborative DdM altar
- (2) Art-focused off-site regional excursions
- (2) "down days"
- (3) day passes to the Feria Maestros del Arte
One applicant will be chosen from the submissions. All items listed above will be included in your residency experience.
This is a short turn-around. SUBMISSIONS ARE DUE BY MONDAY, JULY 28th. We look forward to receiving your submission, but be sure to put the deadline on your calendar.
Application Requirements
You will be required to send a bio, resume and (6) images or examples of your work. We also ask that your artist statement address how your Dia de Muertos experience will translate into the work you are doing during the residency and the work you do when you return to your home studio.
Eligibility Criteria
Any artist, writer or musician is welcome to submit an application. A panel of respected artists and writers from the Ajijic community will be chosen to review the submissions and decide on the chosen artist.
There will be a lot of walking and Ajijic is a charming village with wonky sidewalks and "cobblestone" streets. You must be able-bodied for this active residency, as we will be "on the go" most days.
