Call Description

The "Old Town Newhall Fine Art Festival" will be held October 11th from 10-5pm and October 12th from 10-4pm, 2025.

Santa Clarita Artists Association (SCAA) and Old Town Newhall Association

TITLE SPONSORS:

Funding provided by Solar Optimum via the LA County Department of Arts and Culture Public Art in Private Development Program.

SCAA is supported by the LA County Department of Arts and Culture as part of Creative Recovery LA, an initiative funded by the American Rescue Plan.

 

THE FESTIVAL WILL PROVIDE ARTISTS: 

  • 10' x 10' space
  • Coffee and water station
  • Advertising in local Southern California publications and social media promotions (for festival as a whole, not individual artists)

JURIED PROCESS:

A professional jury panel will select artists based on the photos submitted. The photos must represent original work of the artist whose name is on the application. 

Once juried, you will receive an email in August with acceptance or regret. If the artist is not accepted, they may submit again in future Old Town Newhall Fine Art Festivals.

ACCEPTANCE:

Accepted artists will receive further information closer to the event with booth location, instructions on how to enter/exit into the festival grounds, unloading details, where to park, etc. The City of Santa Clarita will be handling traffic control. Please obey the instructions you receive, be kind, patient, and courteous to ensure a smooth process for all.

SECURITY:

There will be security overnight, however, it is recommended that you remove all items of value overnight. The festival is not liable for any loss or damage to your items.

Application Requirements

  • Applications are due no later than August 4th, 2025.
  • There is an application fee of $25 (non-refundable) whether artist is accepted into the show or not.
  • Accepted artists will be required to pay a $200 booth fee, which covers the entire weekend.
  • Artist must be 18 years or older to participate,

SUBMITTING IMAGES

Images of your art must be high resolution .jpg or .png and 300 dpi or larger. In addition to a minimum of five (5), and up to ten (10), images of your art, you must submit one (1) image of your intended booth set up. Drawings of booth set up are acceptable. Please upload all images to this call.

Eligibility Criteria

ELIGIBILITY:

  • Artist must be 18 years or older to participate.
  • The festival will be juried, and only fine artists showcasing original art work will be considered. No craft products accepted.
  • Art must be originally created by the person submitting this application and properly licensed, if necessary.

ACCEPTABLE ART: Must be artist's own, original art and composition. No wearable art. Work accepted will be fine art, as described below:

Ceramics - Pieces must be hand-thrown or hand-sculpted by artist.

Digital - Digitally created originals or altered photographs taken by the artist, No Ai.

Drawing - Hand-drawn by the artist whose name is on the application. (Including Pencil, Charcoal, Pastels)

Glass - Pieces must be hand-blown, hand-manipulated/fused.

Jewelry - Each piece must be hand-crafted by the artist using materials, such as: wire, metal, glass, clay, stones (no stringing of store-bought beads, glass, or clay).

Mixed Media - 2D or 3D work will be considered.

Painting - Acrylic, oil, and watercolor (gouache is acceptable).

Photography - Must be original work taken by the artist, no Ai manipulation.

Sculpture - Must be hand-created by artist.

Other: Printmaking, Metalsmithing, Wood

Please note: Artist fine art greeting cards may be sold and limited edition art is also acceptable to sell, please sign and number the print.
