Juror

Our juror this year is Jill Endfield. Jill is a fine art photographer and author, concentrating on historical techniques and alternative processes, with annual workshops and lectures in locations around the world. She has published three books on these subjects which are used in schools and have won awards since the first one was published 2002. Her work has been shown in galleries and museums as well as private collections

Jill did a series on immigration which was first shown on Ellis Island in 2017 and has been exhibited around the country. The show included portraits as well as "The Glasshouse of Immigrants" which features images taken on Ellis Island. Her newest work is entitled "The Way Home."  It consists of landscapes along the Hudson River, Both series were photographed using the wet plate collodion process to make ambrotypes. The work was then printed with Palladium to make prints 20" x 24."

What Are Alternative Processes? 

Alternative processes include, but are not limited to: Albumen, Cyanotype, Van Dyke Brown, Platinum/Palladium, Gum Bichromate, Bromoil, Salt Print, Tintype, Ziatype, Daguerreotype, Image Transfers, Liquid Emulsion, Photogravure Chemigram as well as handmade prints created from digital negatives.  Traditional Silver Gelatin Prints, C-Prints and Digital Prints are not eligible nor can any AI generated work be submitted.

Awards

1st Place:  $300, 2nd Place: $200, 3rd Place $100 and 4 Honorable Mentions

 Submission 

Digital entries must be uploaded at callforentry.org where you will find instructions for submissions. The competition is open to all photographers age 18 years old or older, excluding members of Soho Photo Gallery. No image can measure more that 40" on the longest side

Application Requirements

There is no limitation as to subject matter.
