Call Description

We're Coming Back for Thirds!

After successful exhibitions at PØST Gallery and Blue Roof Studios, "Let Me Eat Cake, Please!" returns for its third deliciously subversive iteration.

We will transform the gallery into a feast for the eyes - walls covered floor to ceiling with food art that celebrates sweetness, indulgence, and culinary pleasure. This immersive environment tells stories about hunger, satisfaction, comfort, and joy through the lens of desserts, treats, and culinary delights. Picture Baroque abundance meets contemporary food art!

Shoebox Arts invites you to submit work for this national open call exhibition at Shoebox at the Brewery, our alternative art space in the Brewery Arts Complex. This exhibition will coincide with the Brewery’s October 2025 artwalk. About Shoebox Arts

Shoebox Arts, founded by Kristine Schomaker a decade ago as Shoebox PR, began as a mission to help artists effectively promote their work. Inspired by her own challenges during a solo exhibition, Schomaker drew on her background as a creative, educator and administrator to build a supportive bridge between creative practice and professional visibility. Today, Shoebox Arts provides artists across the country with mentorship, professional development, education, and community from its home base at the Brewery Arts Complex in Los Angeles.

Shoebox Arts at the Brewery offers residencies, exhibitions, and curatorial opportunities. Shoebox Substack offers both free programming and a subscription base for artists looking to build sustainable careers. Low-cost subscriptions provide exclusive resources, industry insights, and community support focused on helping artists navigate and thrive in the art world.
