Call Description
GALLERY DETAILS
Odd Ends & Afterthoughts will be held in the Community Gallery at View Arts Center in Old Forge, NY. The gallery is equipped to support wall-mounted works, pedestal-based sculpture, and immersive installations. Selected artists may be asked to assist with installation for more complex works.
Overview:
This exhibition skips down surrealism’s winding path with a sense of mischief and wonder. Odd Ends & Afterthoughts revels in playful logic, visual puns, and unexpected delights—where teacups sprout legs, furniture gets feelings, and gravity occasionally takes the afternoon off. Here, surrealism isn’t brooding in the corner; it’s cracking jokes, breaking rules, and dreaming in color.
Call it nonsense with intention, or fantasy with a wink—this show celebrates the handmade, the heartfelt, and the humorously haunting.
Artist Criteria:
- Local and international artists working with surreal imagery and a whimsical tone
- Open to painting, sculpture, digital media, animation, and delightful oddities
Design Notes:
- Immersive, playful vignettes and room-like installations
- Strange furniture, optical amusements, and tactile surprises
- A space where the unexpected feels right at home
