Call Description

This juried exhibit invites artists to creatively reimagine and reinterpret ten of Baltimore’s architectural icons. Through painting, photography, illustration, and mixed media, the exhibition will explore themes of legacy, transformation, and preservation. Selected artworks will be exhibited at The Peale. Artists will be featured in a digital catalog, and works will be available for purchase during a final fundraising auction. 

Featured Buildings

Artists must select at least one of the following landmarks as inspiration:

  • Peale Museum
  • Monument Square & the Battle Monument
  • Pennsylvania Railroad Company District Office
  • Alex. Brown & Sons Company Building
  • Mercantile Trust & Deposit Company
  • Vickers Building
  • Gayety Theatre
  • Baltimore Trust Company Building
  • B&O Railroad Company Headquarters Building
  • Old St. Paul’s Episcopal Church

Application Requirements

Up to 3 artworks may be submitted per artist. Each submission must include:

  • Title, medium, dimensions, and year
  • 1 high-quality JPEG (1200 px minimum, 5MB max)
  • A short artist statement (100–200 words)
  • A brief bio or resume (PDF)

Work must be 2D and created within the last 3 years. Artists must identify at least one of the featured Baltimore buildings that inspired the piece. Entry Fee: $25 (non-refundable)

Eligibility Criteria

  • Open to all artists aged 18+ residing in Baltimore and surrounding counties.
  • Work must be original, created within the past 3 years, and not previously exhibited at The Peale.
  • 2D media only: painting, photography, illustration, collage, printmaking, and mixed media.
