Juror – Doug Martenson
Doug Martenson serves as juror of selection & awards for Wayne Art Center’s 2025 Fall Members Juried Exhibition. Martenson is a Professor at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and has taught Figure Drawing at the University of Pennsylvania. His work has been included in exhibitions throughout the United States since 1982 and with Gross McCleaf Gallery in Philadelphia for over two decades.
Martenson notes that annual visits to Maine, travels to upstate New York, and leisurely walks through remote sections of the outskirts of Philadelphia serve as a source for his chosen subject matter. But - more importantly, that these interludes allow time for reflection. Martenson provides not only a representation of the natural world but also an interpretation of the emotions felt but infrequently articulated in his work.
