JUROR
Felice House
Felice House is an American figurative painter and Associate Professor in the Department of Visualization at Texas A&M University. She maintains a studio in Austin, Texas.
Her boldly rendered portraits subvert traditional portrayals of women by casting them as powerful, iconic figures—most notably reimagining classic Western heroes as women in her celebrated Re/Western series. This series went viral on platforms like Upworthy and garnered international media attention across China, Japan, and Spain.
House’s work is featured in museum and gallery collections nationwide and abroad, including The Booth Western Art Museum, Prentice Women’s Hospital, and New Mexico State University. Her portraits and interpretation of feminist iconography have also been showcased in prominent publications such as Fine Art Connoisseur and Vice Magazine’s The Creators Project.
She holds a BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, an MS in Visualization (Computer Graphics) from Texas A&M University, and an MFA in Painting from the University of Texas at Austin. Additionally, she trained in classical painting and portraiture at the Schuler School of Fine Arts in Baltimore.
